Dumb question - Those that have flown while PG?

Dumb question - Those that have flown while PG?

Hi - I'm flying to Aruba next month - PG women should not walk through those security detectors, right?

If so, do you just inform them and ask to be searched with that wand?

That is correct. You do not need to walk through the radiation gate...
they will call over a female security guard and she will pat you down

if you are not showing yet, I would ask you dr to write up a note on their letterhead.

make sure to drink lots of water and get up and walk around on the flight

I was just wondering that....what if they don't believe me! My next appt is 2 days before our flight so I'll see if I'm showing yet

Thanks!

Oh my! I did not know that! I am going to the Bahamas on February 21st! I will be having my doctor write me a note, just to be sure. I'll be 26 weeks at that point. But I don't show with all these layers I have to wear to keep warm!!

Trish - don't feel bad - I'm just a freak! LOL I was driving into work this morning and on the radio they were complaining about the security screeners at the airports - then I wondered if I shouldn't walk through them when we go away next month

I'll be about 18 wks at that point but with my fatness I have a feeling I'll be showing already

I used to work for a jewelry manufactuer & I went through the metal detector everyday. And I flew. The doctor said it wasn't a problem.

I've flown several times while pregnant (recently 4 flights in 2 weeks). I was nervous as well, but 3 different doctors informed me that the technology today is NOT harmful nor is there any radiation from the detectors. This is what I was told. I also did research on them to find out and apparently they are not harmful anylonger. If you're still nervous about it I don't think they will have a problem with patting you down
Also consult your doctor to feel a little better.

Have a great trip

I'd rather be safe than sorry, but then again, you don't want to give the guards any reason to be suspicious!!

I'll check with my dr before I leave

Thanks ladies!!

Jenn - I am hysterical right now!!!! LOL

I flew while pregnant and walked through the metal detectors - my dr never mentioned that I couldn't when I asked about flying.

But if it will put your mind at ease, ask to be hand searched.
