we have a postage machine here at the office and i'm planning on using it for my invitations. is this different from the machine they use at the post office?
what is hand cancelling for anyway? is it to put the stamp on? or something else?

Re: dumb questions about stamps/postage
Even if you use your office's postage machine, when you drop them off at the post office, they will get run through a machine there. If you ask for them to be hand cancelled, they won't go in the machine. This is done so the invite doesn't get crushed or dented or bent.

even if it's hand cancelled, it still goes through the sorting machine. but that means it only goes through one machine, insead of two.
