during ceremony...which way will you stand???

just curious....will you stand facing the officiant with your backs to the guests..... or facing the guests with the officiants back facing the guests? just curious.......

i know traditionally the bride and groom's backs are to the guests.... but i have also seen ceremonies on tv...where the bride and groom face the guests so everyone can 'see' more.

any thoughts?

Our church doesn't give us much of a choice. We'll face one another during vows, etc. During eurcharist, we'll be facing the altar with our backs to the crowd.

we dont' have a choice in my church. We will stand toward the alter with out backs to the guests

We will stand facing the guests. My uncle is the priest, so we can pretty much do it whatever way we want .

we are actually getting married at our hall 'in the round' - the officiant will even turn us at one point so that everyone will be able to see our faces at some point - i think it's so neat, because i always hate when i'm straining to see something, anything during a wedding ceremony....it seems that my view is always obstructed.

We will in all likelihood be standing either with our backs to the guests, or profile. One of our photographers will be positioned to get pictures of judge's back and our faces with the water in the background.

I like the facing the officiant option (backs to guests). There will be times for facing each other (vows/rings) and facing the guests (unity candle/sand ceremony) I went to a wedding where they faced each other the whole time and it seemed strange.

Back to the guests. I think if I was facing everyone I would get even more nervous. Then you can really tell everybody is staring at you.

We'll be facing each other if we can help it. If not, it's no big deal to us, we'll have al day and night to see everyone.

Varied throughout ceremony...sometimes back to guests, sometimes facing each other, during readings etc we sat looking out to the guests.

Most of the ceremony we will have our backs to everyone and at some parts facing each other, so people will see our side prof, but other than that they will see our backs. I like the idea of facing the people, but our church does not do it that way, but it is not a big deal for us.
