Okay. So I know every bridal salon tells you that you have to order all the BM dresses at once so that you can make sure they are in the same dye lot and all the colors are the same.
Is this a reality or is this something they just tell you to get you to buy the dresses in the same place?

Re: Dye lots?? Is this really an issue?
I think it is true. FH's cousins wife bought her BM dress at a different store and it didn't match the others at all. I think it may be hit or miss, but I would order them all at the same place, at the same time to be sure.

I didn't think so. I thought it was so none of your bridesmaids bought their dress at another store. Oh well, none of my bridesmaids bought there dress at the same place. I'll let you know how it turns out in October.

Re: Dye lots?? Is this really an issue?
It is true. I was in a BP years ago where my sister's dress, though ordered at the same time, was cut from another bolt of fabric of another dyelot. They were close in color but not close enough. It could be seen by the naked eye. I would be concerned that if dresses were ordered at different times, they too would be cut from different bolts of fabric. It could show in pictures under light. Maybe its persnickety, But I know it would annoy the hell out of me.

Hi!
Yes, It can be an issue. I work with fabrics in my job & saw that when fabrics were not dyed within the same dye lot the colors were slightly off. It is more noticeable in certain colors than in others. Also, depending on the designer of your dress, some companies have stricter policies regarding on what the allowance is on color standards.
A dye lot is basically where a mixture of colors (dyes) come together to create another color. For example, in one batch you can have slightly more purple thrown into a batch that is suppossed to dye a blue dress.
Honestly, this wasn't a concern of mine at all. Each of my BM's ordered their dresses at different locations.

Yes - definitely true. It's much more of an issue with darker colored dresses, but I wouldn't take a chance!

I don't know because we ordered BM's Jr BM's and FG's all together but just the BM's and FG's dresses came in. We are still waiting for the Jr BM's dresses. All from the same company 'Jordan Fashions'.

Re: Dye lots?? Is this really an issue?
i think it really depends on the color of your BM dresses and how 'off' the colors could possibly be with each other. I have a MOH in another state, so she is getting her dress elsewhere but it really doesnt matter to me if the dye is slightly different b/c shes the MOH anyway, its ok for her to stand out.

it's true, i was in a bp where we went to our local david's bridal stores to get sized and then she ordered all of our dresses from a store near her in delaware to make sure all the dresses were from the same dye lot
