Does anyone know if there is a way to 'rain-proof' shoes after they are dyed? My Mom just ordered a dress in a plum color. We were thinking of having her wear matching shoes and a purse but she just pointed out that the rain might make the colors run... That wouldn't be good. Maybe she should just buy silver shoes?

FSIL had dyed shoes for a wedding once and the color did run when it rained; that is the only problem with dyed shoes; especially if it's a bold color.

Hopefully their feet don't sweat either..went to a wedding and most of the girls had rings on color around their stockings but they had long dresses so it was okay

I would get the silver. I was told in the store that it does run if it rains.

I've had many shoes run on me. I'm pretty sure there's nothing you can do about it

Re: Dyeable Shoes and Rain
I have heard of many people doing scotch guard. Its not 100% but will protect against running like 80%. If you step in a puddle type of thing, it wont help though lol.

oh just a note about silver shoes and this is just advice i got from the owner of Sandys shoes is that with dark colors, either get matching or black but not silver as one might think. In pictures, the eye always goes to the silver shoes rather than the face/person and dress. Just a tip that stuck with me so i told my mom for her navy dress, no to silver. (she also was considering)

Re: Dyeable Shoes and Rain
my mom's dress is turquoise and she's getting a pair of silver (my suggestion) and also a pair of dyable. She figured she'd want to change shoes at some point anyways for comfort reasons, so if it's raining, the silver will be worn outdoors and the dyables in the RH

That's a great idea! My mom's dress is a plum color so in addition to the matching shoes, I will get silver right?
