Re: dyi projects
crashing - FH and I are making many things, as I stated on another thread of yours. When I get some pics I will post them for you.We are making the bases for the table place markers (instead of numbers). I am wood burning celtic knots, 10 diff kinds, on them. FH will sand, stain, polyurethane and then sink a dowel into them with a slit at the top to hold the pics.
We have pic of places we have been and are going to put info about the place and what we enjoyed about it. Maybe it will inspire someone else to go.
We are printing the place markers with a smaller pic of the places on the back so our guests can find their tables.
We made our own save the dates, bought the envelopes, printed them on his printer with a nice font, used our colors in scrap booking paper and printed a pattern bought on etsy on it. Glued the 2 colors together and sent them out. Cost us under $40
We are collecting shells to go in the vases for our centerpieces. - Free, just a walk on the beach.
FH and I will have 3 Large clam shells with tea lights on our table.
We are stamping and polyurethaning, maybe staining too, our favors and are going to put something in them for our guests and probably finish the decoration with a bow in one of our colors. They are little wooden boxes and will have 5 different flavor teas in them. They can later be used for jewelry boxes or a catch-all for the guys.
$175 for the boxes, $20 (incl s/h) for the stamp. Haven't bought the finishing stuff (stain, etc). Tea if on sale should be 2 for $5 or 2 for $6 for a 20pk box and we need 100 each flavor. We got tired of gifts that are gone in 2 bites or unusable or not something we would use to decorate our house with. We are also making from our heart, not buying the same stuff so many brides get.
We are printing our own menus, and ceremony bulletins, haven't started it yet so don't know how much it'll cost. We will probably wait for a scrap book paper sale again for the outside of the bulletins and the menu paper. Won't find out definitely for another 4 moths what the exact menu is though we have an idea.
We are doing a make-shift photo booth, we bought a lot of props from Spirit Halloween the weekend after Halloween and paid 1/2 price. Even with that we spent about $160 - $180. We will set up a tripod and camera at the venue.
Probably doing other stuff too, but don't remember it all.
Good luck. Stay creative. We are all unique, so make it yours, and enjoy the process.

Thank you. When we started planning this wedding it was discussed that it is his as much as it is mine, even though he jokes that 'it is all about the bride, all I have to do is show up' and that I would like his input and help because I wouldn't want to plan something that wouldn't suit our tastes. Luckily we have similar taste and we are both geeks.
I think if you worded it right, your FH would be happy to work on certain aspects of the wedding together with you and maybe come up with some suggestions of his own that might happily surprise you.
Good luck and thanks again.

Sounds beautiful! It's good he is handy like that. As long as he schedules his time right it shouldn't be too stressful. Are his tools able to be used inside during winter?
If so he can do your fleur de lis now and put them in a 'wedding box' so they will be all set to go when you need them.
He can also cut out and lay out or mock up the pieces of the archway ladder and put that in a separate box, this way it won't take up room and then just assemble it and treat it (polyurethane or something) about a month before the wedding.
FH does woodworking too. Made our king headboard of wrought iron and wood for us.
We are keeping all wedding things in Staples/Office Depot boxes because they are strong, stack well and are easy to label. We have 5 such boxes filled already, and aren't done yet.
Good luck and enjoy the process.

Re: dyi projects
Will be working on it again soon after the holidays are over. Still baking cookies for gifts to people we haven't seen yet and having his and my folks over for dinner tomorrow. Didn't get to see my folks for Christmas and the 4 of them haven't seen each other since the year we were engaged. Since we are getting married in June, I think it's time.
Will get pics up once something is actually completed, everything is pretty much in the works all at the same time. I hope to be back to wood burning asap.
Next nice weekend will probably walk on the beach collecting more shells...we are going to need a lot.
We have to start thinking about the wording on the invites and the weights of them as the postage will be going up near the end of next month. Even if it's just a few bucks it's better in our pocket than theirs especially with wedding expenses still coming.
Just got the stamp on Christmas Eve, now to find a good ink pad that won't make the ink bleed into the wood.
Thanks so much everyone for all the kind words.

idk where to begin on my list! I have sui much I think it's overwhelming! I think the stress of all the hours I work, the holidays and trying to do things with fh that aren't wedding related ( u know still spend time with each other) I feel like I have no time!!

I made some signs for our wedding that I'm going to use throughout the reception hall. I used wooden hearts and painted on words like 'Welcome' for the escort card table, 'Family' for family wedding photo tables, etc. You can see pictures in my album.
I'm also working on designing our escort cards. I got some awesome fonts from dafont.com and tented cards from envelope mall.com.
I also designed our save the dates. The pictures are also in my albums.
I also plan to make the signs for our bathroom baskets. I tried making a card box too, but quite frankly it was a fail! lol
I love DIY!
Love your wooden signs! They came out great!
