ok, well auburn is a whole different can of worms. you said red. jeez.

actually you said RED. which draws up images of Carrot Top.

I like auburn, I have done it before. It never goes away though, that irritates me. But I love the color. You seem fair skinned like me, it brightens your face.

Re: dying my hair RED

As a natural redhead, I can usually spot a fake straight off.

But I met someone at a Halloween party a couple of weeks ago who had the best 'bottled' red I'd ever seen. I couldn't tell it wasn't real. It was dark red, auburn like you said you wanted.

The trick to it looking natural is for it to not be ALL red. I have brown, black, light red, dark red strands.

The really bright bottled reds always look so strange to me.

Isla Fisher auburn = yes.

PS - GF, I had no idea about the real redheads having different color strands.

even you do blondie!

all hair has different shades...even those that don't really seem like it. that's why dye jobs are usually so easy to spot...they lack the natural nuances.

of course, my hair color naturally ranges from dark brown to dark blonde so you can tell the difference.

I am hoping that helps in the dye process...since my hair is not all the same color anyway, it will take the dye more and look more 'nuanced'

That's the color my hair would be if I didn't dye it.

Someone described me as having brown hair years ago and that upset me. So I started dyeing it ultra-super-light blond. It's the only color that will lighten my hair!

Yup, most redheads have a mix of strands, especially as they get older.

I have 6 redheaded nieces and nephews (and my 2 sisters & brother also) and the kid's hair when they were babies was BLAZING! But over the years it darkens, unfortunately.

But I'm only aware of my own color because I'm self-centered like that.
