My mother has decided that she wants to get engagement announcements made so she can send some out. Does anyone have pics of thiers or just wording to give me some ideas

Re: E-Announcement

I don't have a picture, but we had them made up and it was worded like this:

Mr. and Mrs. xxxxx
Mr. and Mrs. xxxxx

Are pleased to announce the engagement of their children

Thanks that is what we were thinking of doing. Since I dont even want them we are going to print them out on some nice paper and not spend alot.

Thanks again

No problem! I really didn't want them either, but my parents really did so we had them made up and they looked beautiful, and we got some gifts as a result. I've also seen other wordings too (ours was pretty formal since our folks are more formal). Here's an example of one without mention of the parents' names (we looked through a book) like:

They're Engaged!

I didn't really want to do this either. But, my mom and fmil wants me to send them out so that people could send us gifts. I feel like we're fishing for gifts! On top of that, my fmil wanted me to include an insert to say where I am registered. I told her, 'No, maybe for the shower' LOL

Re: E-Announcement

the cool thing about it was that extended family who had not met either me or DH, had our faces on their refrigerators!! My dads cousins wife came running over to DH and siad 'I know you!'

and DH's uncles new step daughter ran and got the magnet when she saw us!!lol

Re: E-Announcement

Ours was very simple, it was a panel card with 2 simple hearts in silver and it said:

We finally did it!
Susan and Alex are thrilled to announce there engagment on March 15,2001.
I still have copies if you want me to send u one in the mail, I do not have a scanner. Just FM mail me the info.

Re: E-Announcement

Does anyone think it's weird that my FMIL has made up engagement announcements that she wants to send out to her family, regardless of what my parents want or do? She's basically said if my mom likes them, she can send them to her own family. (Of course, my mom hates them and thinks the wording is horrible and wants to suggest wording that she thinks is more classic and appropriate--not to mention that it's worded with groom's parents first.) Our parents are having a very difficult time agreeing on things, so I feel like I should just leave it alone and tell my mom no one in our family will see them and she should send what she wants to our family. But, I also feel like sending out different announcements (even though we're the only ones who ever have to know) is just so symbolic of how they can't get it together to even agree on a one-sentence card in a civil way. Maybe there's nothing I can do about that. Any thoughts?
