E-Bay Expert Question?

I had something on E-bay to sell and the auction ended yesterday w/ no bids. However, one guy emailed me (didnt bid) stating that he was interested and would like to buy it.

How do I go about doing this since he didnt bid? Im new to this so I dont want to send him his item unless I get paid for it first. He said he can go thru Pay Pal but what do I have to do on my end>

Please help..........

ETA: Since he didnt bid, we cant use pay pal right, b/c technically Ebay doesnt see it being 'won'...?

I did this and here's how we handled it. I relisted the item, with a buy it now price. The buyer bought it, and then we went through paypal. That way it was recorded and we both got feedback. Hope this helps.

I believe you can still go through paypal...paypal isn't exclusively for ebay users. I def wouldn't send anything until you receive payment from the guy. Go to the paypal website and see if you can set up a charge without going through ebay...i'm pretty sure you can do it...my FH has sold things off of ebay and used paypal. HTH.

Thank you.......although doesnt Pay Pal charge a fee. So they will take money out of my total, right?

Should I just ask this guy to send me a money order?

It might be easier for him to just send you the money in a money order.

Yes paypal usually charges a small fee..so you either jack up your price just a little or usually it is a very small fee.

Don't forget about the shipping too. Make sure you get the money for shipping.

I have done this many times. You can go through pay pal with no problem, they will take some money out of the transaction but other than that it is very easy to do.

Make sure you get paid b4 you ship the item out

Re: E-Bay Expert Question?

I will.....thanks :)

He said it will take about 2-3 days before I see it in my account, right?

So once I see the money in the account, I will mail them. Is that OK to do? And since its thru Pay Pal, we're both protected b/c can't E-bay go after one of us if one of us decides to be a shrewdy?

I hope thats the case........

Re: E-Bay Expert Question?

ok here is what you do - you can accept payments through paypal as a personal account if you only accept a direct debit from his banking account ( or paypal balance)for free
if he is trying to pay with a debit or credit card then you need to be a premiere or business member to accept that - then paypal takes a percentage of the total you receive plus a 40 cent transaction fee for using their service.

you can either list it again with a buy it now or you can take a chance and sell it to him direct - if you are taking a direct payment on the side i wouldnt take paypal for it - he can always contest that you didnt send it and hold up the paypal money ever after it has cleared ( that is the sucky thing about paypal - they can go back at any point up to 90 days after and take the money right out of your account and hold it while you go through arbitration and yes i am speaking from experience i have had this happen)
if it is a side deal have him send you a money order - that would be the same as getting cash and you dont have to worry about problems down the line.

never send anything until you have the cash in hand - wait till the money order arrives and you have taken it to the bank or check cashing and actually cashed it. you dont want to find out after the fact there is a problem with the money order.

hope that helps

Re: E-Bay Expert Question?

Ebay isnt involved in this transaction, correct? All you gotta do is collect payment and ship out the item
Not a problem
