E-Party

E-Party

who pays for this??

i was always under the impression that my mother would step up to the plate and plan this for me, being that she would be so excited for her oldest daughter getting married(sorry if i sound bratty!) all my married friends had their parents throw the party

she has not offered to do this and never even brings it up- we've been engaged since november. I really want to have an E-Party but FH doesn't think it's necessary.

We are paying for the wedding ourselves- so i hoped my parents would at least pick up this bill.

who threw your Eparty??

Re: E-Party

my mom gave some money, then my dad gave some money, and my FH's parents threw in some money as well... FH & I picked up the rest of the cost. and I did alot of DIY to make it a little easier and cheaper. I made all the invites myself, menu cards, escort cards, centerpieces, etc.

We threw our own; it was more of a 'We're engaged-we're having a BBQ/party to celebrate' wasn't anything formal. Bought a bunch of food from BJ's & grilled out; had some mac & cheese; ribs; rice etc. Lots of comfort foods. We did have favors though; but no fomal invites or centerpieces.

Re: E-Party

Well my step-mom said i had to choose between a bridal shower and an e-party, she said no one does both

FIL's stepped up to the plate & pd for the place where we had it but FH & I pd for the music, candy buffet, cigars, napkins, signing photo frame , matches and decorations.

Re: E-Party

I always thought that the bride's family did this, but again, times have changed so much and things aren't as traditional anymore.

We are paying for a lot of the wedding and my parents are helping, and my parents will probably pay for an E party. I just talked to my mom last night about possibly having a big outdoor tent party in their huge backyard over the summer. We will probably rent a bar, get kegs and have a bartender and have it catered.

I think you should talk to your parents about it, maybe just tell them that you want to have one and are willing to pay but could use some help.

Re: E-Party

We didn't have one.

Short engagement, most family OOT... it just wasn't reasonable with our timeline for a lot of reasons.

Re: E-Party

We are paying for our e-party, but FILs are helping us and paying for the DJ.

However, my parents are paying for most of the wedding (and I'm sure my mom will be paying for my shower too).

Re: E-Party

FH is trying to convince me to have an E-Party around the holidays this year (or early next year) to kick off the formal wedding planning. It would probably be just a small cocktail party at my mom's house with just the BP and immediate family invited.

I'm not sure what my parents want to chip in for any of the parties.
