Obviously I need a cake for our engagement party, but I was hoping for more than your typical sheet cake. Nothing too crazy. Our 'theme' is (elegant) backyard barbecue. 60-70 people. I have a major sweet tooth and am a bit of a foodie, so I want it to taste AMAZING. Any suggestions on bakers/bakeries or designs/styles?

My sister had a friend of hers make ours. I don't know who she is, but it was red velvet and it was incredible! It was a little one though as we also had a big dessert buffet with other cakes, pies, and cookies.

Soooo cute! I like to look of just the box shape too! I think our other desserts are going to be kept classic - choc chip cookies, brownies, and fruit salad.

ours was a sheet cake, but it was AMAZING! EXACTLY what we wanted!!!! we ordered it (as part of our contract) from black forest bakery in lindenhurst. we ended up getting TINY pieces because the cake was GONE- EVERYONE attacked it! I actually ordered the same cake (just smaller) for my 25th birthday a month later
We had a huge viennese set-up at our e-party, so the cake was literally an afterthought. I got a huge sheetcake from Waldbaums in our colors with fresh strawberries and whipped cream and it was *seriously* one of the best cakes I've ever tasted. Our friends and family *still* talk about it!

This was our cake it had a dulce de leche filling and also caramel with yellow cake. I got it from a local bakery in Queens.

Dortoni's is doing our wedding cake...I've had cakes, cookies, everything from there a bunch of times and they are SO good. Def. check them out- they're located in Levittown.

If you're looking for a bakery I used black forest for our wedding and loved them.

I don't have any pics bc my engagement party is this coming weekend. I know we are getting a round cake and it will be all white fondant on the outside, not positive of the exact design. I will post pics after this coming weekend!!
