My Mother and I just had a small argument w/ Dad over this one:
Dad feels its inappropriate to have a quick champagne toast at our backyard e-party. This is the first time our aunts/uncles/cousins are meeting each other. He said that he popped open a bottle of champagne 2 months ago when we were engaged, he doesn't think it's necessary to toast again.
Mom and I, on the other hand, think it would be nice. Just 1 glass of champagne - we can't really afford to keep it flowing all night!
Are Mom and I wrong? Whats the etiquette?
TIA

Re: e-party etiquette Q
I think you can do which ever you prefer. If you only toasted with a few people maybe it would be nice to have another toast with everyone. We had a backyard E party and didn't do it but I think it sounds nice especially if some people haven't met.

Re: e-party etiquette Q
I think it's completely appropriate and a nice gesture. A celebration is a celebration! It shouldn't matter that you had a champagne toast when you first announced your engagement. JMO

I don't think it's a matter of etiquette. It's really a matter of preference.
IMO, it is completely appropriate to toast you both on your engagement at your e-party.

I think it is definitely appropriate. In fact, I think it would be weird if nobody said anything. As the host of your party your parents (Mom, Dad, whomever) should say something to welcome and thank all of your guests for coming. And you dont need to do champagne either. Everyone can raise a glass of what they are already drinking.

Exactly! I agree 100%. And if you want champagne, well it is your e-party, so I think you should have champagne

Re: e-party etiquette Q
I think it's def appropriate. At our e-party we did a toast and people just raised whatever they were drinking, not necessarily champagne.
