i think it's a nice touch to have them since lots of guests see big e-parties as money-making affairs. it def doesn't have to be something crazy. we did votives of gourmet chocolate wrapped in tulle that cost us about 50 cents each and saved us on decorations for the tables.

I dont think you HAVE to do anything... I did them though and I think a majority of other girls do as well. Here's a small cheap favor if you dont want to spend a lot - get plastic spoons, chocolate kisses and tulle. Wrap a few kisses in the tulle and attach to the spoon and write on a little tag, 'a spoonful of kisses from the future Mr. and Mrs.'
I don't think that you NEED to but if you did something small, that would be nice. Even if you just put some candies in cellophane or something. Sometimes cellophane is cheaper than tulle. =) Hope this helped.

u def dont have to , we did...we did the 'perfect pair' salt & pepper shakers...
