E-Party.. gifts or money? POLL

E-Party.. gifts or money? POLL

Ok so our invites went out for our engagement party. I have already recieved some emailed responses.

FH step cousin asked where we are registered. FH and I have not registered yet, we figure that we aren't getting married for 2 years and are affraid our tastes or decisions might change.

I feel bad because I don't want people to feel obligated to give us a 'certain' amount of money, if they can not afford it (that isn't what this party is about).

But do we register? Or should I just say that we haven't registered, but if you would liket o buy a gift, that would be wonderful?

What do I tell his cousin?

We didn't register for the engagement party. Honestly, it didn't even occur to us. We just kinda let things go and almost everyone got us money which is a huge help since you need money to help put down those deposits. If you really want things for your home, I would register but otherwise I'd just let people decide what they want to do.

Same problem here!!!! We are not registering yet because of our date....people Have asked us how much, but I am completely leaving it up to them. I think if I told people what to give us, it would be inappropriate. It really is a touchy subject

Yeah I feel like I can't say give a certain amount. Mom said tell him to give you a gift card. But I feel funny about that.

I just want people to come and help us celebrate. But I don't want people to feel bad. And I dont want to reg just because.

Don't feel funny- - - -this is a happy time and they want to be a part of it! You'll see that people want to help in some way....I Know every engagement party I've been to, my fiance and I like to give them $$$ so that they can use it any way the like!!!

I already picked out nice thank you cards....gratitude is golden

Honestly, FH & I are hoping to get $$$ for the engagement party. We are not registering until 1 year till our wedding date. I know some of his family doesnt believe in engagement parties, and if thats the case, then dont come! The people that want to help you celebrate will be there regardless if they bring a gift or give $$. As long as you are grateful you should not feel awkward. If people ask you how much they should give you, tell them One Milllllion Dollars at least it will break the ice and they''ll get the point....

We didn't register-we made A LOT of $$$. The few gifts we did get were from family-they gave us engraved gifts, and close friends-my best friend made up a kama sutra set, with all sorts of neat things. But the point is I would just tell people you haven't registered yet.

We registered for our E-Party. FH's dad & stepmom pushed us to, cause she works at Macys and got a discount on things for them and his sister. Its a good idea to register for just basic things now. I put toasting flutues, lenox vase, frames, candle holders, candy dish, things like that. Some people just like to give a gift like that. Also when you register at Macys, then give you free money (they tell you how much you can buy with stuff) after your register purchases. We also registered at BBB. Good luck.

ours was a surprise party planned for the day after we got engaged so we didn't have time to register. I would say 95% of the people gave money or a gift and money (which was REALLY generous) and I have to say it was the best thing because that money really helped us start our wedding savings.

If they're asking you I would tell them moola!
