E-party guest list drama

E-party guest list drama

OK, so FH and I are paying for our e-party. Its a small dinner at an italian restaurant for exactly 38 people. We cannot afford anyone else. Anyway, I told my cousin that I was inviting him and his wife and that I was NOT inviting his parents or his adopted brother/cousin, whatever he is. He asked why. I told him b.c I have limited space and I am only inviting the people that I want to be there. Anyway, my cousin just texted me 'my dad was home when we got the invite and he was wondering when his was gonna come in, I told him maybe tomorrow.'... ***??? he KNOWS they are not invited. So now he wants me to call him and explain myself to him. I told him it was self explanatory that he wasnt invited. No invite = ur not invited. To be honest, I really dont care if they are offended. I am sick and tired of inviting people just because 'I have to' . i think my cousin is annoyed, but whatever.

*** A little backround history, FH and I broke up 2 years ago November b/c FH acted like a jerk in the presence of my uncle. My uncle went and told my father about it. This caused a HUGE fight and FH and I broke up for 2 months. My uncle obviously doesnt care about us so why would he want to be there?*** FYI: uncle didnt tell dad as a concerned family member...he told him to gossip and cause drama. Thats just the type of person that he is.

I am sooooo annoyed!!!!! Am I wrong??

You are not wrong.. if you and FH are paying for your E party... and you are on a budget.. then it's the 38 people that YOU AND FH want... and there is nothing that can be said... you can say to tell him that he will definitely be invited to the wedding(if he is) and that this is simply an intimate gathernig!

you are not wrong at all, you have a right not to invite. If he wants to come ask him to pay for himself and see if he likes that answer. dont let it get to you.

my cousin wants me to call his father and explain the situation to him. I personally dont think its necessary. Do you guys think I should call and explain myself?

NO...I agree with you 1000%

We are having an e party and I didnt invite all of my family...Whyyy??? Because there were friends that I would rather have there...Some of them care and know more about me then these 'family' members...At the end of the day, you should invite who you and fh wants there regardless of what people say!

You are totally not wrong. I would not call and explain yourself and your cousin was way out of line to put you in that position. I can't stand people who make things about them when this is supposed to be about YOU AND FH! GEEZ!

Noooooooooooooooooooo! You did nothing wrong these ppl need to get over themselves. The e-party is supposed to be a small intimate gathering. It's not supposed to be everyone who is invited to the wedding. Don't ppl realize the cost of living has gone up!!

I had about 30ppl at mine but it was a surprise and only a few sprinkle of ppl from each family came. My fam is way too big to invite the whole world but already ppl are upset they weren't invited. OH WELL! If that's the case and you can't understand and get over it I can easily give someone else your spot on the wedding guest list. You can't invite ppl out of guilt or 'just because it's the right thing to do'

As you can see I've been going thru these issues but I REFUSE to let anyone ruin my day. Life is too short.

And if your uncle doesn't even like FH then why is he making such big deal?!

Do what you want girl and tune everyone else out!

ok you dont have to call anyone and explain anything... he didnt get an invite end of story. If ur uncle wants to know tell him to call you.

Noooooooooooooo!!! You are not wrong!!!

Even without all the drama of his uncle as background, if you are paying for the party and can only afford to invite a certain number of people, than that's that!!!!

You are not wrong at all. We are having the same problem. We are paying for our e-party and our guest list is out of control. My brother got married last year and had an e=party, so now I am stuck inviting the same people he did. Our list is up to 165 people. We are only having it at a relatively inexpensive hall, but still it is getting crazy. I would invite who you want there and anyone else can just deal with it!! That is just my opinion

FIrst of all you are not at fault it's your cousin who lied to his dad, HE should set the record straight!
No invite does= Your not invited!
If he can't stand your FH why would he want to be there anyway...
I hope it gets smoothed out and you can put it behind you!
