Is there anything special I need to provide at the e-party?Also my mom booked it for Nov 30 and we are getting married in September 04. Does anyone think that is too late for an e-party. A girl at work said she thoght it was like we were asking for 2 gifts and was not a good thing to do!

Well I am trying to keep this simple, but my mom says we need favors, centerpieces, I don't know.

I am doing balloon centerpieces and small favors at mine. But mine is at a hall. It depends on the atmosphere and where you are having it.

No, I don't think it's too close - it's at least 11 mos apart. Ugh - I really wish people would keep their UNSOLICITED opinions to themselves!

You could pretty much do whatever you want with it.. just keep it simple IMO.. you don't want to compete with your wedding and also raise people's expectations of your wedding reception.. ;)
The reason I say this is b/c we had a pretty formal e-party at Fox Hollow and I felt this immense pressure after the e-party, (which was SIMPLE), but b/c everyone was soo impressed withthe e-party, it was hard for me, theykept telling us that they couldn't wait to see what the wedding was like..alot of pwessure..
I did candle centerpeices..

Re: E-Party help...
I was reading on the knot that you shouldn't have an e-party any later than 2 months after your engagement. We were engaged in Dec 2003. I am so worried.
Marcella my mom is having the e-party at Russo's on the Bay in the small room downstairs. Only 70 people - family and only bridal party.
Did you do favors too?

Re: E-Party help...
nope, no favors.. I did do programs, and little mints and uhm.. what else? can't remember.. Don't listen to the knot or anything.. that's crap.. your wedding isn't for another year.. and don't listen to what anyone says either.. people are just downright silly!

Re: E-Party help...
Another question. The e-party in Nov 30. the weekend of Thanksgiving. I would like to stay with maybe pumpkins on the table and orange votives, but Russo's will have Christmas decorations up around the building. Do you think I shouldn't go with my idea?

Re: E-Party help...
Well if that is true what the knot said about not having it after 2 months. Then the majority of us were/are wrong. We will be engaged 5 months when we have the eparty. Dont they realize theses things take time. Dont listen to anyone have the party and enjoy being a bride.

you said it perfectly Bridget!
hmm.. I know that Russo's goes all out.. did you truly have your heart set on that? cause remember, you'll be in a room where there won't be any x-mas decorations, you know?

Re: E-Party help...
As far as centerpieces, I would check with the hall to see what they provide. I had glass bowls with floating candles and a flower ring around each. Pretty easy and simple.
In regards to favors, I think a small favor would be appropriate. I used these pear candles that went in a clear box and had 'a perfect pair' on the tag. They actually came out pretty cute.

Also, about the date, don't even worry about how long its been since the engagment and how close you are to the wedding. Just worry about having a great time - people will always have comments no matter what you do!

Re: E-Party help...
I didn't do favors at my e-party but, mine was extremely informal. We had it catered and had it in my back yard in July. We were engaged in Feb. I wouldn't worry about what the knot says or anybody else for that matter. Do what makes you happy!
