e-party question

ok so my and fh are debating an engagement party..
now heres my problem.. i want something low key .. chill... fun ... i DO NOT want a mini wedding .. so i figured a catered back yard party would be fun ... but then i really do not feel like having to clean my house from top to bottom and host people til all hours of the night (yes, im so friendly! lol) when its over its over .. go home!

(this happened at fh grad party a few years ago and i was left with a very intox/sick fh at 4 freaking AM)
i was thinking maybe doing it in an italian resturant .. but do u think i need a dj etc? will it be too boring ??
i think at the end of the day im gonna skip it .. im not in the mood for more planning .. money spending or decisions!!

anyone have any suggestions something small yet fun yet i dont know!!!
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR OPINIONS AND INFORMATION AND TIME XOXOX

Re: e-party question

i think you can do a nice dinner somewhere? a lot of places have private back rooms and you wouldnt need to do a DJ imo

personally i skipped the e-party. in the end the cost was just not worth it considering the expense of the wedding

Re: e-party question

we did a semi-private room of an italian restaurant. no DJ. the point of the e-party (for us) was for people to talk to eachother.

for some 'entertainment' we did have a little 'game'...we did a scratch-off, where someone won a prize. we also made a human bingo (getting to know you) game, but never even used it

it was a great time. and i highly recommend having one. we found a place within our budget ($33pp with wine and beer!!), which allowed us to make a profit on the party

the profit we made instantly turned into our HM fund. we were able to take a 3 week honeymoon and not worry about it!

amazing. do it! just be cost-conscious!

Im doing a cocktail party...if you are open to a daytime event, places are not too pricey

Mine was a sit down lunch at a restaurant on the water. I didnt have a dj or anything like that... it was very simple and low key.

We did ours in my dad's backyard. It was great!! They hired a girl to walk help set up the food and clean up. The clean up after was so minimal.

Pics are in my album. It was so layed back that by the end of the night everyone jumped in the pool!

Re: e-party question

We had ours at a local golf course. Most usually have a restaurant as part of the facility. We paid a small per head price which included apps, buffett, dessert, beer/wine/soda.
We used our ipod for music and the place was nice enough that I didn't have to go overboard on the decorations.
I wasn't going to have one either but all said and done, we spent a couple of thousand (for 85 ppl) and made back more than double.
It was a nice chunk to start our wedding fund with
Good luck

Were doing ours at Bet U Can Dance it is an adult dance studio. We liked it since it is still casual but we can have music and our own food. Were catering in some and making some stuff to. It is completely your choice to have one or not. For us since were waiting over 2 years we wanted to get our families together.

Re: e-party question

how about a restaurant with a private room?

we did ours at a fire house & our parents cooked everything & decorated & it was perfect. I had my ipod going so we had background music. Not too dressy & not too casual! I thought it was perfect! Pics in my album

Re: e-party question

we had our epary this weekend in a party room and we catered food in and had background music playing on the bose ipod speakers. it was busy and people were chatting so no one missed the dj and it honestly would have been a waste if we paid for one.

good luck!
