We're having an outdoor party that my mom is cooking for with about... 40-60 people. Its at my MOH's house so nothing too fancy.
Should we do something like a card box? I don't want people to think we're EXPECTING gifts... but I do know that people are going to bring us cards.
Thoughts?

E-party question
For our engagement party we just had an empty table that one side had the favors on them and the other was for gifts. It was decorated with balloons but we didn't say it was for gifts but once the first person put something on (my sister) it initiated the drop off location for cards/gifts.

We made a simple card box on an empty table with a few balloons, there's a pic in my album. We had a lottt of people and I didn't want to be responsible for carrying envelopes around all night. Michaels may have something that won't be too expensive.

I bought a decorative box that closes with a flap with a satin bow from Marshall's and michaels had similar ones for 40% off ... Then they can be used for storage around the house after. But also if nothing else it looks like a decoration at the party. I don't think it's obnoxious. Pics in my album !

E-party question
We just had a table with a photo of us and balloons, where we put cards as they came in. I really didn't want anyone to feel obligated to give, although everyone did anyway...since for engagement parties its not a 'given' to bring cards/gifts

E-party question
We went for a very rustic look with everything, so I just got a super cheap like waterpail type basket for my own organization. Any time anyone handed us a card, or our parents, it went in there. That way, I could keep track of where everything was, and it didn't look like we were expecting gifts (which we weren't).
I made a point of not having like a card box or gift table to make sure people didn't think we'd been expecting them. I even told people we weren't expecting gifts when they asked what we wanted.

Re: E-party question
For my engagement party I had a small box with a sign that said thank you. I didn't want a sign that said cards because I didn't want people to think I was expecting a card. People liked having a safe place to put their cards. Here is a picture of what I did!
