E-Party Question

Who usually throws the engagement party? I've been to ones that the bride's parents have thrown, ones the couple's friends have thrown, ones the couple has thrown, and ones the MOH has thrown. What does etiquette/tradition dictate? Thanks!

It is usually the parents of the bride or groom (mostly bride) but honestly these days I really don't think it matters.

In my situation, my parents paid for the party...but my FMIL paid for the favors and she gave us money. IMO..there is no right or wrong way of doing it....it depends on the situation.

We threw the eparty ourselves and paid for it.

But after opening all the gifts, FI's mom gave us a check that pretty much paid for the party. It was totally unexpected and we tried to give it back, but she wouldn't hear of it. It was a nice surprise, but even if she didn't do that it was well worth it, we had so much FUN!
