Me and my FH are thinking about having an E-party but I have a few questions.... First is it ok if we do it ourselves? I dont want my parents to worry about it. Also we want to keep it small because of money so is it ok to not invite everyone that we will be inviting to the wedding or is that rude? and lastly when should this be held? we got engaged 11-10-08 and are looking foward to a 2010 wedding!

We had our eparty about 2 1/2 months after we got engaged..we did it ourselves at a local hall. It wasnt too much money and we didnt do anything extravagant. Its ok not to invite everyone...we just kept it to family only and several close friends (at the time...). Keep it immediate family and you wont have any problems!!

it can be held whenever you want! i got engaged april 2008 and i am having mine in march 2009, i am having a luncheon at a restaurant and keeping it just to immediate family so like around 50-60 people

I don't think there are rules about who throws the engagement party...i think it would be totally fine to host it yourself.
Keeping it small is fine...actually probably a better idea than inviting everyone. You can have just immediate family...or family and bp/close friends.
We got engaged 8/31/08 and are having our e-party this weekend. We are just having about 40 people (just immediate family). Our parents are throwing it, but wanted to keep it intimate and not super expensive!

I don't think theres anything wrong with keeping it small and doing it yourself.
You can probably save money by doing it outdoors (either at a park or if you have a backyard) during the spring or summer. Anytime later might be too close to the wedding date.

we had ours about 2 1/2 mnths after we got engaged... we did it our selfs and my uncle last minute paid for the food to be catered but we had it at a hall and we had 70 people.. no friends just fam and the bridal party... it was so much fun

we got enegaged in nov and had the e party in may. we hosted it ourselves at a local hall and it was jsut family and close friends (about 100 people) it wasnt expensive and everyone had a great time!!
