Hey everyone! I have done a few searches on this topic but I just wanted to know what you girls thought. I didn't think anyone really registered for their engagement party and then I talked with a few of my friends last night and they said that you are suppose to register!!? AHHH
I dont live with my FH yet and we dont plan on it until the wedding. So basically I dont need anything yet and if I did register it would just sit in my house for a year. Also, i ordered my e-party invitations and they are coming next week and I planned on sending them out right away because the party is the end of April. ANDD if registering is the thing to do then I pretty much have no time!!
If you could let me know what you did that would be fantastic!! Thanks girls

Re: E-Party.. should I register?
Usually you leave the registered gifts for the bridal shower. Dont stress over it.

were in the same boat. We dont live together yet and are renovating his basement, so the money and items we will already have...
When we do have our e-party, i think we will register, but only if someone searches lol...

Re: E-Party.. should I register?
you really don't *have* to register. IMO, if you register too soon, you get all the gifts at your engagement party and nothing left by the time your wedding comes.

Re: E-Party.. should I register?
We're registering but not including the cards in the invites - if someone wants to buy us something I think they'd probably ask our parents where we're registered.

Re: E-Party.. should I register?
I registered because people were asking me if I had and wanted the option of getting us something off of it for the e-party. We ended up getting all of our Mikasa stemware, everyday dishes, table linens, picture frames, pots and pans, and some other things.
The one thing that I didn't do, and was kind of a hot topic, was include the reigstry cards in the invites. I thought it would just save people the call to ask where we registered, but other brides said it was tacky.

Re: E-Party.. should I register?
I had asked the same question a few weeks back. My eparty is March 29th and we decided not to register. My friend who registered ended up getting all gifts and when it was time for her shower she had nothing for people to buy her.
If you feel like you really have to, than I would register for a few items but don't go crazy.

Re: E-Party.. should I register?
Im having an e-party at the end of APril and I dont plan on registering for it either.
My friend told me I HAD to register so I get gifts. Shes crazy btw. I just want a party thats casual and where the bridal party who have not met can meet and both of our families can get to know each other. I am writing no gifts on my invites and everyone thinks im crazy.

Re: E-Party.. should I register?
I am in the same position. FH and I will move in together when we are married. So, My engagement party will be this summer and I don't think we are registering for anything because we will end up holding it here at my house.

Re: E-Party.. should I register?
we registered because of the questions and pressure to do so from his family.. ' I just got back from my FAVORITE STORE, BBB.... Did you know they have a bridal registry? makes it so convenient with your party coming up'
FMIL idea of hinting lol
We wound up getting a good amount of the stuff at the engagement party, or in the mail just before, so its your call. I know some places that say if you are having an e-party do a registry, even if its small stuff, but its different when you arent living together

Re: E-Party.. should I register?
Don't stress. We didn't register for our engagement party either. It's too far away from the wedding. If people want to bring a gift that is fine. I am not going to worry about it.

You girls are awesome! Thank you because I was driving myself crazy over this. I'm having 100 people. I think I might just hold off for now and if my family or friends get on my case i'll just register for a few things at BBB. I heard if you have a registry there and return anything from the registry you get cash back.... sooo thats pretty awesome haha!
