Being a 2nd time bride I feel kinda funny having all these parties again, yet the FI being a first time groom (hehe) and being an only child, his mom feel entitled & I personally don't blame him. YET we are planning on getting married next July & I just feel 3 parties in 10 months is pretty crazy. What do you girls think?

well, we had our e-party at the end of june - not sure when the shoer will be,a nd we're getting married in april! so they're all going to be pretty close together! even if it's a second time for you - and especially if it's his first time...i say go for it! you can have a small e-party if you feel uncomfortable doing too much in a short period of time! But people love to celebrate weddings! They love it! it puts everyone in a good mood! enjoy it!!!!

we didn't have an e-party, but we just got engaged at the end of April and knew we wanted to get married within 6 months.
We got engaged on a trip to bermuda, everyone knew FH was going to pop the question but me, so everyone was eager to hear all about it. The night we got back (after a 5 hour delay in Bermuda!), we had our parents and siblings that were in the area over to look at all our pictures and hear the story. We downloaded our digital photos to our laptop and ran the slide show through our TV ... everyone loved to see all of them and so we celebrated in our own way. That was plenty for us

I loved Bermuda (even though it rained while we were there). Everything there is beautiful - flowers everywhere, blue skies & ocean, great places to visit, great drinks :) - they have a drink called a rum swizzle created at the swizzle inn - we're going to use it instead of our champagne toast!

space them out..... E- party you can have Asap...... shower 1 or 2 months before the wedding...
** for the E-Party you could always have it with just his side? some people dont have Eparties(like me )

I am in the same position. But cuz it is his first, we are doing everything. We had the e-party in June, I don't know when the shower will be, and we are getting married in January. We had to have them even closer cuz his parents are snowbirds and we wanted them up here for the e-party. Don't worry, noone said a word, especially if you are keeping it to mostly his family. A friend of a friend is going through same thing. What she is going to do is tell her FMIL that if his mother wants to have the parties, that's fine but that perhaps it's better to do it more for his side of the family, and invite just your immediate family (and close friends/wedding party). That way, your fiance and his family gets to have fun w/ the e-party, your FH's family get to attend the shower. I think it makes sense and is a nice compromise.
