I am going away on a business trip to Spain in a few weeks and I am wondering if I should leave my engagement ring home??? I am not too worried about losing it, but I don't know...what do you think?

Re: E-ring and Travelling...
i went to spain for HM and i took my e-ring and wedding band. Had no problems. I see girls who get worried when they go to an island and being in the water. In spain you wont really have any of that to worry about, unless youre going to their beachy area. But i was fine and dont see why not.

I have never thought about this before, and I have yet to travel with my ring, but I would say leave it home.

I went on a cruise to the Caribbean last year and I was worried about taking my ring but I did because I really hate not wear it. It was fine, I left my ring in a safe when I went swimming in the ocean and other than than I wore it the whole time.

I was going to suggest that maybe she leave it in the safe in a hotel room, that is a good idea.
If you really are worried about losing it then just don't take it.

i wore it on a cruise too, well i had no choice since we got engaged on that cruise hahaha. Again, i didnt have problems. I actually took my ring even when we left the room but thats bc im paranoid about the safes, i know ppl who had stuff stolen out of their hotel room safes. But when we went snorkeling for example, we all had backpacks since youre on an island for hours and i had this really small purse inside my backpack, i put the ring in there and gave it to DH's aunt to hold on to since she didnt snorkel, i told her my ring was in there so she held the bag inside the catamaran the whole time.
Since being engaged we traveled a few times and always took my ring, and again had no problems at any time.

depending on where you travel to, you have to be VERY careful with the hotel room safes

you could always buy costume jewelry that looks like an e-ring if you're worried about losing it, but still want people to know you're engaged.

I am having the same problem. I am going to Brazil for work in a few weeks and someone said I shouldn't bring it. I then asked one of my co-workers who is from Brazil and she said to definitely not bring it-that I could actually get mugged for it. I am going to feel lost without it.

some areas in brazil are very dangerous and some of the neighborhoods are known to be some of the most dangerous in the world so i can see why she said that.

I have only traveled to islands since I got engaged, so I always leave my e-ring home.

If you are really nervous I think buying a fake ring would be your best bet. I haven't decided for sure yet but that is probably what I am going to do for the honeymoon.

If I travel I almost always leave my e-ring at home, but I do wear by wedding band. The e-ring is insured anyway but I just get too nervous about that kind of stuff.

I actually have a fake engagement ring when i go somewhere where I am nervous that i might lose it or get mugged. We went on a cruise this january, and my friend had a fake one that was exactly identical to her real one.

You can also try this if you are traveling and you are wearing your e-ring and you think you are in an unsafe area...
turn your ring around so the diamond is facing towards your palm, keep you hand more in a fist shape and then the only part exposed is the band, which hopefully (if you don't have diamonds going all the way around) looks pretty plain.
I do this when I am on the subway late at night or if I find myself walking in an area that freaks me out.
I learned this from relatives who lived in the city in the 80's when there was a lot more crime.

me too...when I am on the subway I always turn it around. Its horrible but you really don't want to give anyone an idea that you have something valuable.
