E-RING APPRAISAL

Anyone knows any reputable places in Manhattan or Brooklyn?

Also, how much does it cost to appraise a ring. My FI says the prices are $100+! Is that true??!!

I used the jewelry judge in mineola and it was about $75 to get it appraised. They have a few offices, not sure if any are in brooklyn though.

Macys on 34th Street does it. I got mine done there.

I think its costs 1% of the value of the ring - if I remember correctly.

I had mine done in Suffolk at a local jewelry store & it only cost me about $45. Shouldn't be too expensive.

i got mine done where FH bought the ring. He did it at no cost.. you should check that out, otherwise he usually charges 75-125

Re: E-RING APPRAISAL

I got mine at JustAppraisers. They were amazing and provided a very detailed appraisal so that if anything ever happened to my ring I would get the exact (well closest) replacement or in my case I opted to find an insurance company that would cut me a check. They only do appraisals so they have no stake in telling you anything other than the actual appraisal (vs some that try to sell you their jewelry).

It is a percentage of the carets I believe so I couldn't tell you the exact price but mine was about $120 for a 1.75 caret ring. His info is below.

I had all my pieces appraised at JustAppraisers. David & Toby are great and you can sit and watch them weigh, measure and test all the jewelry. I got a very detailed report (two I think) hand delivered to my office.

the web site is justappraisers.com

I paid like $430 but that was for my engagement ring, diamond earrings, diamond bangle bracelet and another diamond bracelet.

ETA: I am not sure about the price calculation but it may be based on carat weight

Question: What was the difference in the appraised price and purchase price of your E-Rings?

I don't have the paperwork with me (I'm still in VA with family) but if I recall it was about $2K difference for replacement value. The retail appraisal was over $6K difference.

My difference was about 8-9K, but FH was lucky bc his cousin is a jeweler and he got the diamonds at cost.

Re: E-RING APPRAISAL

Mine was about 3K above but that was because they priced it out according to the method I bought it...essentially what they do is try and find a similar match out in the market place to your diamond and inflate it according to some calc. but it is a fair representation of the price you paid (I believe it is just inflation) and then add in the cost of the setting. If I bought my ring at Tiffany's they have a separate calc for them or other places. They don't inflate the price to replacing it at Fortunoffs just because you are going to pay MUCH more in insurance on that inflated price. They gave me (just because I ask a lot of questions) 2 prices vocally...One non inflated and one inflated. Essentially if I would have used the inflated my insurance would have been at least $120 more!

do not know of any places in those areas - The place we went to charged on the size of the diamond - the bigger the diamond the more
