e-ring appraisal and insurance

I became engaged in December and I still haven't gotten my e-ring appraised or insured. I need to do this ASAP. Can anyone recommend a affordable appraiser near Queens or Nassau county? I also need recommendations for e-ring insurance. We don't own a home or have renter's insurance??? Thanks!

I don't know where you can get it appraised but I insured mine through State Farm. Very affordable!

Maybe you can try Fortunoff or Tri-County to get it apprasied?

HTH!!

We got my ring appraised by the jewerly judge by the roosevelt field mall and used jewelers mutual insurance... i think it is alittle more pricey but it covers anything under the sun... (lost diamond, stolen ring... ect.)

Fortunoff wont appraise jewelry purchased elsewhere.... Bailey banks and Biddle (a jewelry chain store in most malls -- a little more high end than Kay and Zales) recommended the jewelry Judge -- I think he's on Jericho?--- definitely in Nassau county. I think they charge $100 for an appraisal.
State Farm is great for insurance. They are trustworthy and reliable... Quick with claims.

FH got my ring at the jewelry store in Queens Center Mall - we appraised it there too. . . i dont know if they appraise jewelry that wasnt bought there but the name is Giorgio's i think - you can give them a call before you go. . .

if you trust the place where FH got your ring then you can get it appraised there

as for insurance, i insured it under my parents' homeowner's insurance it is MUCH cheaper then trying to insure it on its own - maybe someone can help you out and put it on their insurance and you can pay them?

Getting a ring appraised you can go into any jewelery store.

As for as insurance we did it under my parents homeowners policy as well.

ooo, i need to do this too... i'm really curious as to how much my ring is worth b/c fh only paid for materials (not that i wanna be all like 'my ring costs this much' but i'd like to let the guy know who made it for us).

how much does an appraisal usually cost? someone on here said 100, but i've also been told like 20% of what the ring's worth.

how long does it take? i've been told 2 weeks, but i'm nervous leaving it there for that long.

jewelry judge on old country road was 100 dollars and it took about 30/45 minutes maybe.....a reputable place will not take your ring!....u should NOT have to leave your ring for anything! keep that in mind when doing your search

I got my ring appraised at the Jewlery Judge in Garden city...cost 100 bucks and it was no more than 40 minutes. The guy did everything right infront of me.....never left with the ring.
We have our homeowners insurance with All State and to add the ring on its approx 60 bucks a year.....not bad at all.

Yeah thats a red flag for me...I have never heard of a place where your supposed to LEAVE your ring there....they should do it right infront of you!!!

I used jeweler's mutual for the insurance

I used Jewelry Judge also. He was great. I have mine insured through state farm. I think the cost of the insurance depends on the dollar amount of the appraisal.
