E-ring Appraisal & Insurance ..

I have to insure my e-ring asap! So I would like to know:

Where did you girls get your ring appraised? &
Who is it insured through?

MY RING WAS APPRAISED THROUGH THE DESIGNER THAT I CREATED IT WITH AND IT IS INSURED THROUGH OUR HOME/RENTAL INSURANCE POLICY (TRAVELERS, I THINK)...FH HANDLED THIS FOR ME!

I got the appraisal from the designer and then took that to State Farm for the insurance. Its less than 1% of the appraisal cost per year.

did you just a seperate insurance for the ring or did you add it to an existing car/home insurance? because my car insurance is not under my name and i have no home insurance. Can it be done seperately?

I just got my wedding band and my mom said I should have them both apprasied & insured. I was wondering how to go about this too! Thanks for the post date twin :)

I was going to insure my ring, but they said it would be like 700 a year. I don't know to me that seems ridiculous and a waste of money. I'd rather risk it and put that money towards something else lol. I know this probably isn't smart.

Who gave you that quote that is crazy!! I think mine was less than 75 a year.

my ring was appraised at $11K (FH paid less) and my insurance is $175 for the year

i added a rider to my parents' homeowner's policy since i didn't own anything at the time (nationwide)

It was through our homeowners insurance I think. I am not really sure but it's on top of some other policy we already have. I have the appraisal from the place we got it. I think due to the amount on the appraisal it is that much. I would much rather insure the center stone then the whole ring. So maybe that can be done for much less.

My ring was appraised through my jeweler & it's insured by Jeweler's Mutual.

I have Geico for my car .. so I just called them.

They signed me up for renters insurance with Travelers and added a seperate jewelry rider for the ring. I think it was something like 400 for the year for both?

And I got a discount on my car insurance for have multiple policies with them!

EDIT: ask the jeweler where your FH got the ring to write you an appraisal .. otherwise you will have to pay for one wherever you go.

I use jewelers mutual also

My ring was appraised by the designer

but if you need a good jeweler to appraise it Argyle Jewelers in Babylon Village are great and honest.

Appraised thru my jeweler (Delmonte-Smelson) and insured thru Jeweler's Mutual. I did a lot of research on the insurer and I am confident about JM.

I got my ring appraised at Jewelry Judge in Garden City I believe. We took it to someone who didn't make my ring because my FH had my ring made at Martin Flyer in the city and because he wanted to see if it matched up to what they told FH. This guy was spot on- my FH was amazed and he was very skeptical at first. He was a little more than $100 but I thought he was totally worth it. I have insurance attached to my parents homeowners right now.
