Our insurance company recommended we go to whomever we bought the ring from. Not sure if thats a possibility for you.

I got an appraisal from my jeweler and it appraised for more than we actually paid.

Macy's.... that is where my ring was appraised. In all actuallity my FH jeweler told him to specifically go to the appraiser in Macy's on 34th street

if you dont mind, how much do they charge to do the appraisal? Do they do it right there on site?

I just called macy's. they said that your jewelry never leaves your sight which i am assuming means they do it front of you which is always good...then she said if its work over $2500 they charge 1% of the appriasal value. When i asked about the person doing it she yelled at me they macys only hires graduates....gee it was just a question. the lady was very rude on the phone

Rob Aretz -- he was referred to me & is a gemologist.
He is by appt only & the cost depends on the size of your ring.

That does help greatly- I need that to actually use for my renter's insurance.
