Speaking of insurance, does everyone have insurance on their eng ring? I don't yet and it is making me nervous - when I think about it. How much does it cost on average? Is it best to get it from where I have homeowner's insurance?

Re: e-ring insurance
The cost will vary depending on the value of your ring. Definitely get it. I had it within a few days of getting my ring and I was nervous to wear my ring in those few days before I had it. I believe you can do it through your homeowners policy. Definitely do it!

Homeowner's insurance is not necessarily the best thing you have to watch out for them. Ask around, i think it is ok if it can go on a separate jewelry policy, it is better. I have heard that if it is under the regular policy, it is hard to get the money or what it is worth. Look at both options and ask around.

Re: e-ring insurance
I use Allstate, I pay $990 a year for my renters insurance & my ring as a rider. The ring is what makes it a bit high.

Re: e-ring insurance
My ering and the wedding bands are included as a rider on our renters insurance policy. I dont know how much it is, DH doesn't want me to know the value of my ring, but I think we pay about $400-500 a year. He just had to have pictures of the ring taken and an appraisel to give to the insurance broker.

You can add the ring to your homeowner's policy. I didn't do that though. I used Chubb. The price of the policy depended on the value of the ring.

Re: e-ring insurance
I would have it insured. FI got it fully insured- lost, stolen, drops down the sewer, stones falls out, anything at all and it is $290/year.

Re: e-ring insurance
I went to a great ring appraisal place in Garden City called The Jewelry Judge. It's on Old Country Road. They appraise your ring right in front you...it is never out of your sight. I think the appraisal was about $75 (that was over a year ago though...prices may have changed). They recommended insurance through Jewelers Mutual. I pay $140 per year. I'm pretty sure they have a web site. I'll try to find it for you.

I go through State Farm. I have a personal articles policy w. them for my ring and pay $200/year for that. I have a lot of coverage on the ring (can buy a car for what this is insured for) I also have renters through them, costs me about $200 a year for that as well.
