I have Allstate for my apt. insurance. I just added it on as a rider but Allstate will choose another ring for you. So I'm considering switching to Chubb, have heard that they do this.
Wanted to ask tho - the appraiser told us if we opened an insurance account with a new company we'd have to pay fees just to open the account - is this true?
Are there any other insurance co.s that give cash back? God forbid I lose the ring, I'd rather we choose it ourselves than some appraiser. Thanx!

Re: E-ring insurance where you get cash back
We used State Farm Ins. to insure my ring. We got a policy just for the ring, because the value is so high. We would get cash back good forbid it got stolen or lost. The cash value back is based on the appraisal we had to provide them with. The ins. co. took copies of everything, even a pic of the stone. We didn't pay any extra fee's, just the cost of yearly payment on the insurance. Hope this helps.

Re: E-ring insurance where you get cash back
I have my ring insured through Chubbs and I didn't have to pay anything to open up the account. Here's a link to their engagment ring insurance information:CHUBBS
and I got the policy through: Keith McVicker 212-888-9800 He's in Manhattan, but I didn't have to go into his office. I just faxed him everything.
Good Luck
