E-ring problems -- help!

E-ring problems -- help!

Its hard to explain my e-ring, but basically, on the sides of the center stone there are like 8 very small diamonds. They dont have prongs holding them in -- they're almost just set into the setting itself-- kind of like pave (I think thats what its called). Anyway....in the year and a half that I've had the ring, 2 of those tiny diamonds have fallen out. The second one fell out just yesterday!!! I'm not rough on my ring at all -- i NEVER bang it around, I dont wear it to bed or in the shower, i dont wear it to cook, clean, or anything else where it could get dirty or damaged. I'm taking it back to the jeweler tomorrow to have him replace that diamond AGAIN, but about 2 weeks ago I went to another jeweler to get it cleaned and she wouldnt clean it because she said 3 of those tiny diamonds were loose. Since there arent any prings holding them in, I'm not really sure how they would go about tightening them and I dont understand why they keep falling out! Anyone have similar problems with their rings and anyone have any suggestions? I dont want to get a new setting, but I'm starting to worry that I might have to if this is going to continue to be a problem

Take it to the jewelers where your FH bought it and try to replace the diamonds. Do you have insurance or a plan on your ering? If you do, they can fix it. Sorry to hear that, I am paranoid about my ring, there is one of the diamonds that is loose, I dont wear my ring out duing the weekday on the weekends, lol

eeeks thats why fh got the extra care plan at Kay because of stuff like that. I don't have prongs holding in my smaller diamonds on the side of the ring. I am having it inspected this weekend (sunday) and cleaned again. They print out a piece of paper and verified its in good condition this way if a stone does fall out its replaced.

I would deff. go to the place your fh got the ring and see what they can do if he didn't get a protection plan. Ask him to look at the paper work he had received with the ring as well to see what was agreed on.

I dont have a big ring at all but i still do not wear it when i go to the gym, wash dishes, shower, etc. I wear it all most daily but I dont feel it needs to worn for every minute .. until you get the 'fix' i wouldn't wear it at all just in case a stone falls out.

I have the smaller stone on the sides of my ring and around the center stone as well. When we went to get it cleaned last summer one of the diamonds fell out. The jewler found the diamond in the the machine because it fell out while it was getting cleaned and we sent it in to get fixed. Haven't had a problem since but I don't wear my ring to bed, in the shower, cleaning and swimming.

I have a similar ring I think. Mine is a princess cut center stone flanked by a round stone on either side and then there are six pave diamonds on each side after that. I got engaged on December 17th, 2006. Between then and mid-February my little side stones kept falling out. I believe I lost four of them! I kept going back to the jeweler to get it fixed and he advised that he would prefer to re-set the ring (at no cost, of course) but I didnt want to do that. I wanted to keep the ring that my fiance proposed to me with for sentimental reasons. The last time I went was in mid-February and I have not had any problems since.

You should go back to the jeweler where you fiance got the ring and discuss what your options are (ie getting the stone put in a new setting, having the setting they are in now fixed, etc). None of those options should be of any cost to you though!

Definitely take it back to the jeweler where FH bought it. When I insured my e ring, the insurance company made it very clear to me that if a stone falls out, it's a sign of poor workmanship and will not be replaced by them. I would definitley bring it back and make them replace it FOR FREE. They should guarantee all of their work.

The same thing happened to my SIL b/c of the cleaning machine they use. Have you had it cleaned lately? That might be what is making the stones loose.

I have pave set diamonds in my ering as well (I have some pictures in my profile) and I have not had this problem. When my sister first saw my eing she told me about a friend's ring who kept losing her pave diamonds. I think it happens to many people (unfortunately) I think your best bet is to take it back to the place where FH bought it. Good luck!
