e-ring question

With all of the posts lately with everyone's rings being loose or broken, I want to get my checked/cleaned/yadda yadda yadda.... I've heard so many horror stories of people's stones being switched out for fakes or what have you.... is it wrong of me to ask them to check the ring in front of me... not to bring it to the back to 'check it'.. I will definitely NOT leave it there, but I was just wondering what I should do. Or am I just being paranoid??

I would do the same. If they have nothing to hide, they shouldnt have a problem with it

Re: e-ring question

everytime i had to bring my ring in (ive had a few problems) i was not allowed to keep it.

they always took it from me and kept it for days at a time.

i was always upset about it because i was afraid of something happening, but whenever i got it back, i brought it to my local jewelry store where my dad has shopped for years and I trust them...

they check it and always let me know everything is the same as before it went in.

Sorry to crash your boards....

but I am so confused as what to do with my ring...my ring is insured thankfully. My FH got it at Zales but he is stationed in San Diego, so he got it over in Cali...and he trusts the women who sold it to him because he was there like every weekend at the store for like 6 months deciding on a ring

But I am here on LI and am not going to visit him anytime soon because he is coming home for Christmas But anyway sorry- I want to get my ring resized and will bring it to the Zales at Walt Whitman Mall (but they said that they have to send it to the Jeweler who works out of Roosevelt Field Mall). So...

1. I am nervous to leave it without being able to see what they are doing
2. Found out even if I go to RFM the Jeweler doesnt make appointments for me to be at the store while he resizes my ring.

But it is free if I bring it to Zales- do you think I shouldnt worry cause I did get the ring from a Zales store and then just have it brought to a jeweler my aunt knows well and have htem make sure it is still teh right stones and all?

if there isnt a distinct thing that u can see to tel if its ur diamond i would bring it to ur aunts friend and have him look at it before u bring it to zales and then again after u get it back. thats what i would do..

FH also purchased my ring at Zales. The certified diamonds have a laser inscription on them so that you know it's your diamond.

FH got my ring from the Karat shop( hate them) i went someplace else to get appraised , and it was insured through my ins company. i thnk it's only like 150 a year to insure but well worth it
