Early Christmas Gift! Need advice on a Cleaner...

Yay! My mom's wedding dress arrived today from the Philippines with all the traditional wedding items. I'm so happy what a big christmas surprise!

Question is I need help. They are about 40 years old and could use a clean to freshen them up. Any suggestions for reputable places to have this done? I'm not using her dress but she wants it cleaned too.

I need her lace dress cleaned (it has some beading), a lace veil cleaned, a tulle veil, lace gloves, satin sash, and a ring bearer/coin bearer pillow cleaned too.

Or should I try to clean the veil stuff on my own and have the other stuff done professionally? i'd hate to see the veil get ripped as I'm going to use it for our veil ceremony.

Any suggestions would be great!

Merry Christmas everyone!

I think I would start by taking everything to a dry cleaner that you trust and see what they have to say. I had my dress preserved by my regular dry cleaner and he was also able to clean my satin shoes that got very dirty while we were taking pictures.

Which dry cleaner is that? I don't have one that I go to enough to trust. How much does your's charge?
I uploaded pictures of the stuff in an album. I'm not going to use the dress but would like to have it cleaned for my mom and stuff if its not too much. I want to use the veil/cord though for sure for my wedding. Pillow maybe be way past its life though And mom's veil is so brown I'm wondering if it would whiten up back to ivory or white or whatever color it was originally if I brought it to the dry cleaners?

I used Hom's Dry Cleaners on Commack Rd., in Commack. I use them for my everyday dry cleaning and have always been happy with their work. They preserved and boxed my dress and veil for $200. Not sure how much they charged for the shoes (DH picked them up). I don't think it could hurt to bring your mom's things to a cleaner and at least see what they say.

I also am using Hom's on Commack Road. They have my priscilla of Boston Sample dress right now!! I get in back next Tuesday and I can tell you how it went. They are doing it for $200 as well. And that's like way cheaper than anywhehere else! They are awesome!

Thanks guys! That place is really close by. Definitely going to go there.

Going to bring in the veils and small pieces in to see what they can do.

Mom doesn't want her dress cleaned at the moment since I'm not using it. We'll see!

HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE AT HOM's CLEANERS! I just can not get over how horrific this store is. Just look at what he did to my mother's pillow and treated it like trash in the end!!

My mother and I are so upset. After 38 years.. DESTROYED by an un-caring horrible drycleaners. I don't know why that place is so busy!

Look in the albums

She was so upset picking it up from that HORRIFIC STORE! She couldn't even yell in the store that's how upset she was. AND he stained the veil that just needed freshening up!!
He must've stuck all the stuff in the same washing machine or however he was supposed to clean it and stained it! The stained pillow has more stains than it did before and he cut it open claiming it ripped open on its own! I'm so scared to see how the lace veil turns out. My mom just said it was stained and told him it wasn't there before and he claimed it was! I have pictures that it wasnt!

Maybe I'm the only one with a bad experience with them but I pray that no other bride has to go through this. It's horrible.

I would NEVER EVER EVER recommend this dry cleaners to anyone.
