Early delivery...

what are your chances of going into labor well before the actual due date? I was just wondering since I would really love to have the baby before New Year's. I'm due Jan. 15th, but was hoping sooner than that.

Well it depends on a lot of different things. They say with the first baby, you go close to full term unless you have a complication, pre-eclampsia etc.....

With me, since I am having twins, I am likely to go 4-6 weeks early.

The chances of you going 2 weeks early, don't seem that good to me. Sorry. Who knows? Maybe you will have the 2004 baby New year!!!

Re: Early delivery...

from what I understand it's kind of rare to go early on the first baby. But as my mom says.....baby comes out when baby is ready! Due on January 15th ....I dont' want to place my bets yet but I am thinking somewhere around the 18th for you! Sorry!!!! I know it's getting to the feeling of GET BABY OUT. I am starting to feel the same way!!!

$ex can help bring on labor but you don't want to have the baby before the baby is ready to arrive. 2 weeks is pretty early. Don't rush it.

No... I wouldn't do anything intentionally to go into labor early. He'll be coming when he's ready! If I did anything to make him come early, and then there were problems, I'd feel horrible! It's ok... it gives us more time to get ready for him!

The first baby coming on time or late is a myth. Women deliver anytime in the 2 weeks before or after their due date (on average). Full term is 37 weeks, so you would be safe anytime after that. I had my daughter 12/14 and was due 1/1. She was my first and I had no complications. My water broke and she was born a few hours later. Things like walking and having sex can help, but only if your cervix is ripe. Best of luck to you in getting a tax deduction this yr. on your son.

I am due January 4, and hoping for a December baby too. Hubby is placing his bets on a christmas baby.

My best friend delivered 3 weeks earlier than her EDD, she said the Drs were wrong about the due date, so I guess even though the baby was full term, it was earlier than she expected.

I was supposed to be induced on my due date (because of the GD), but I ended up having the little bear cub 5 days early w/o any complications. Of course I think the fact that my dr gave me an internal like no other, helped since my water broke an hour and half after leaving the office!!!

I've also been told that it also can depend on what your mother did -- my mother ended up having me 7 1/2 weeks early and my sister 2 weeks early. But that theory didn't work for my sister, she went 2 days late!!!

My mom had all 3 of us kids 5 weeks early! Which it would put me 5 weeks yesterday! I don't think he's coming yet!
