OK sooo question. I am not an earring person. Actually when I wear them for more than 5 hours or so my ears get itchy and red. Sooo i think i might not wear them for my wedding. How bad is that?

i say do what you want..its your day...maybe just wear them for pictures??
i share in your pain...this use to happen to me all the time...but then i discovered that i can not wear fake earrings or 'costume jewelery' earrings.
what really helps is using one of those clear backings...try it out

Do you clean your earrings and ears prior to and after wearing them? I find alcohol makes it not so bad.

thanks ladies! Yea, it happens with fake and gold. I guess i will try it again (using alcohol) and see how it goes. it's been a few years- thanks!!

I have the same problem. Try finding the nickle free ones. Or ones for sensitive ears (I know most department stores carry those)
If all else fails try painting the entire back and clip with clear nail polish

I'm actually not a big fan of the way earrings look with a necklace. I like one or the other. Get a kickass necklace, bracelet and headpiece and who cares about earrings! :) be comfortable!

I'm the same way! I absolutely cannot wear costume jewelery and it's sooo annoying.
How about wearing white gold, u might not be allergic to it

go to like a harmon drugs so cheap places like that have earrings for sensitive ears. your are probably allergic to the nickle in the earrings. even a lot of gold earrings have nickle posts. the sensitive earrings do not have nickle in them. buy a pair and check it out.

SOunds like you have a nickel allergy.
You can try nickel free costume earrings and for real jewelry try the purest gold you can find, 24K.
Lastly, try painting the posts and backs of whatever earring you want to wear with clear nail polish... any part of the earring that will touch your skin. That will keep the metal from causing a reaction.
i have the saaaaaaaame problem, the above strategies have kept me in earring for years
