East Hampton Point and Atlantica

Any input on East Hampton Point or the Atlantica in West Hampton? I am headed out there on Tuesday. Thanks.

East Hampton Point and Atlantica

I was at a Wedding this past weekend at Atlantica. What are you looking for?

How was the decor- I heard it is a little run down. Most important, however- how is the food? Be honest!! Thank you so much.

The food was ok. The cocktail hour only had a cheese and cracker table and another table with just two types of pasta. Have you gone there to check it out? Where else are you looking into?

Atlantica (long)

I looked at Atlantica last winter. It seemed a little run down on the sides of the building but inside it was nice. You can't really see the bad stuff unless you walk around the building which hopefully your guests wouldn't do. There were several menus to chose from. The semi-reasonably priced one had practically no cocktail hour. The next-step-up menu was much more expensive. I thought the place was really pretty on the inside - very casual, summer-ish decor. There were several things I didn't like - 1)Menu was not very good unless you spend a fortune, 2)They require payment of 1/3 or the total just to book, 3) There are no set prices - Every day is a different price - e.g.: the first Sat. of May is different in price per plate than the second Sat. in May - It becomes very confusing. I decided against it because I didn't think I was getting enough for the money. I also didn't want to give the place almost $10,000 a year and a half before my wedding. It is worth checking out if you are willing to spend the money and okay with paying a big deposit up front. As for East Hampton Point, I don't know anything about that one. Good luck!

Atlantica

I looked into Atlantica in 1/01 for my wedding, as Meg said, they have different prices for every day and yes, they do require a very large deposit. Here is what I thought:
it's a great place for a summer/early fall wedding
it has a very small dance floor and your band or DJ has to set up in a corner
they have bad chairs- they need paint
beautiful location (Dune road), but there are only Inns in WHB, so availabilty will be low
great food if you get the expensive menu

I was there recently(about 2 weeks ago) for a fundraiser ball, the food was good, but the weather was not. This caused over crowding in the ball room. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Continued success to all...

P.S.

it is best for a smaller party, anything over 150 is too much for to the size of the room.

Keep in mind EHP is 20-25 miles furthur than Atlantica. That could equate maybe an hour more driving time in the summer months. For out of towners that is a hike. As for the setting EHP faces the Northwest so sundown is amazing. Atlantica faces the south so it gets dark faster. You cannot beat the view at EHP. Atlantica is on the ocean and sometimes very breezy. In the spring months when the water tempature is 50 degrees it can be quite chilly. Although Atlantica is on the beach you really can't see the water. It is far past the dunes. You also have to think of the worst case scenario. RAIN. Which place would be better suited in case of inclement weather. One more thing to think about. Vendor traveling costs probably will be more for East Hampton. This may or may not be a concern.

I forgot one thing - They offer you a tent rental for the deck (just in case it rains) but it is like $5000 if I am remembering correctly. I guess it is worth it if you don't mind spending the money. Also, skybox is right - you can't see the water - You can see the dunes but you have to walk up their boardwalk to see the ocean.

I thought I remembered reading that you were having your wedding there. Are you having it in the resturant? How does it work? Have you tasted the food? About how much are you paying per head - I know that`s nosy, so feel free not to answer :-) Thanks so much.
