OK I know that there are official threads out there-- but they areSOOO long & not really specific& my FH will kill me if I sit online for 3 hours reading all 20 pages...lol-- So here are my questions for weddings at the Inn at East Wind(not sure if its north or south hampton ballroom, but you enter through the main entrance):
1-Did anyone have a problem with the fact that the tables are all on one side of the ballroom? Did you feel like some people are WAY in the back?
2-Did anyone have their cocktail hour downstairs rather than in the other quarter of the ballroom? If so, what was the add'l charge?
3-For anyone who doesn't find this offensive...What did you pay after all was said & done (if you're not comfortable posting would you FM me?) And what did you add- Extra hour, vienese, etc.- I feel like I will be better negotiating if I know the facts.
We are looking at a Saturday night OR a holiday weekend in 08. Thank you so much for any info- sorry if I offended anyone with my specifics-- you know how when you buy a car you go to edmunds.com to see what the True Market Value is & what others are paying... they should have that for weddings!! THANK YOU!!!

I didn't book East Wind but did look there and we really liked it. It was probably our second choice. As for your questions:
-After looking at a lot of places it did bother me how the ballroom was set up. It bothered my mom right away (and she had a very strong opinion about it), but it didn't bother me until I actually saw other rooms with the dance floor in the middle of the room. I also thought where they said the bride and groom would sit was a little removed from the guests. -I never got a cost of having the CH downstairs. The only thing I remember about it is you had to have a certain number of people (a high # - I want to say like 250) before they would consider having it down there. -I think when all was said and done we would have paid somewhere in the 90's for a Saturday ( I can't remember if that was for afternoon or evening). However, we didn't get to the negotiating stage (which I recommend you do with everything you do for the wedding!) because we wound up choosing another place.
I'm not sure this helps...but I hope maybe it does a little!

Re: East Wind---
I am getting married at East Wind, but in the Estate. The Estate is set up with the dance floor in the middle.
Sorry I could not help with your specific questions though.

Re: East Wind---
I did not like the set up of ballroom. I did think it made it difficult to remain a part of the party. we went to a wedding there and could not see the dance floor from our seats. This was ahuge wedding. I like to watch people dance even if I am not!!

Re: East Wind---
I'm at the Country Gardens at East Wind which has all the tables on one side. Personally, I prefer it that way. The whole idea of splitting the room in two with the groom's family on one side and the bride's family on the other always bothered me. After all isn't a wedding a joining of two families?? So then why separate them an hour after the ceremony??
I can't answer your other questions since I'm using the smallest of the available spaces at EW. However, I can tell you that EW views Sunday evening on a holiday weekend the same as a Saturday night and they charge accordingly. But they definitely negotiate with you!!

Unless of course, the sales lady screws up on the price for the Sunday of memorial day weekend 2006!

Re: East Wind---
I feel the same way about the ballroom now- I thought about all of the weddings I've been to where you never cross the dance floor to see the people on the other side... As for the downstairs- I think he offered it because I told him I didn't want the CH in the room next to the ballroom-- it looked too similar to me- So I asked a bizarre-- only a crazy bride would think of it question--- lol- I asked if we booked the entire hotel, & paid for it in advance-- all 57 rooms-- so literally only my guests would be in the hotel- could I have the cocktail hour in the lobby--- that's when he offered us downstairs-- my FH wasn't crazy about having to lay out the $15,000++++ to reserve the rooms (I'm sure we will have a lot if the rooms that night reserved in a block, but 57 MAY be a little overboard Well needless to say- I'm glad he came up with the downstairs--- much better option!! I just don't know what will be a fair price to charge me-- Thanks for all the info!
