Can someone tell me where the LIRR stop is for Giorgios in Baiting Hollow at Fox Hill Country Club. I have some Manhattan guests w/o cars.
Also, how difficult is it to get a taxi once at the station?
Thanks much.

Re: Eastern Long Island Residents - near Riverhead
Its not too bad of a trip - like 10 minutes....there is usually some sort of car service there - if not they could call before they get there and have them meet them....Beware though the train to Riverhead runs only a about three or four times a day.....

You might be better off having them take the LIRR to either WestHampton or Mastic/Shirley if the Riverhead train doesn't run at the time you need.
The Mastic line runs much more frequently than Riverhead. Cab ride would be a little longer... but not too bad.

If you book the Hampton Inn on North Ocean 10 room they will give your guest free shuttle bus!!

Are you referring to the Hampton Inn at exit 63 off the LIE? Villa Lombardi's first told me about this one. Is there another one?

Thanks. It does seem to be the best option for NYC guests.

There is also a shuttle bus that runs from Manhattan to the North Fork. Iys called the Sunrise Coach and I'm not sure where they stop - but it may be more of a pleasant ride than the Railroad.
I think the website is
www.sunrisecoach.com

Re: Eastern Long Island Residents - near Riverhead
if there are enough of them they may be able to run a charter - then they could be picked up in the city and come out here together

Re: Eastern Long Island Residents - near Riverhead
If it isn't too expensive for them, maybe a few couples coming out from the city can rent a car which wouldn't be that much more per couple considering that the train ride is about 30 per person (round trip) so for 4 people, train fare is about 120 and that's basically the price to rent a car in the city. My fiancee and I have given up taking the train into eastern Long Island to see my parents who live in Center Moriches (15 minutes away from Giorgios) because it runs so infrequently. We always rent a car now. The only stop out there is Westhampton and Mastic/Shirley and on the weekends (from Penn) they run from 11:00 am and then the next east bound train into those staions is 7 pm! At least this is true for Fall and Winter but I think it's the same for Summer. Just go onto www.LIRR.com and log in the date and see the schedule. They will be much better off renting a car and it wouldn't be that much more expensive if at all!

Thank you. That is the biggest issue right now - getting everyone out to Eastern Long Island who already lives in NY. We have not booked a hall and are deciding between the top 4 (top 2 in my mind but i'll go along with the other for now).
The other places are much more convenient for everyone - even us - since Suffolk County is like 90 minutes - 2 hours for us too.
My family will travel from VA so I know they will just pick a close by hotel but FI's family and a lot of our friends are in NYC & NJ so it will be hard on them.
Not that I think anyone would not come due to the distance but it's really far for a reception ending at 11 p.m.

I wouldn't pick some place so inconvenient for everyone. Giorgios is a little confusing to someone who doesn't live on LI. Isn't there any other place that is closer to trains, highways?

No, not confusing just far. I'm from VA (not Long Island) but the directions on the web site are good.
My family will have their cars since I think alot of them will drive or rent cars. FI's family in NJ all have cars so I guess it comes down to the NYC friends without cars.

At night, in the dark, it can be confusing. DH has lived on LI all his life and we made a wrong turn on going to a wedding there.

I live on Sound Avenue, about 15 minutes further than Giorgios, and it's really not hard at all to find. Maybe renting a van type limor to bus from Shirley train station to Giorgio's would be a good idea, just make sure your guests know what time it will be leaving.
