I can careless for the day. I get to catch with people because of the party we go to every year... but its just another party with drinks, food and good times. I can do that any day during the week.
I'm not answering your poll because neither of the answers quite fit. I think it's overrated in that it costs WAY too much to go to many places' NYE celebrations. However, it's one of my favorite holidays, and I love it, so it's not like I could care less.

i think it's a nice thing to celebrate because a new year is very exctiing! and it's like we're celebrating the year that has just gone by, as well as looking forward to the new one. but i think it's a little ridiculous that people go so overboard - but they do that with everything, so i guess that's just human nature!

Personally, I'm excited every day that i'm still here.... the days add up to years and the years.....
everyday is special...not just every year. don't take life for granted.. i think it is a gift that we are herre and that gift can be gone within a split second.
because of the above paragraph, i don't get crazy for my b-day, don't get silly for Valentines day (i love and show my DW everyday), etc... other hoildays while they are smybolic (sp) (4th of july, Xmas), i know what they stand for but don't get to into it. As much as I want to remember, I want to look forward to the new things in life.
