I went to place a bid on an item it tells me the min amt that I can bid. So I put in a bid a little higher but then I am told that I have been outbid. So I bid again & again is says that I have been out bid. I don't understand why this happens? Shouldn't it tell you what the bid is at when you go to place a bid?
I hope I am making sense.

Re: ebay question?
let me explain it, let's say the starting price is 10$ and your max bid was 20, when someone outbid you it means that someone else had a bid that was more than 20. I know, it $ucks sometimes, that's why I wait until the last minute to bid on something.

Re: ebay question?
it keeps saying you are outbid because the person who bid before you must have bid pretty high for that item. It will not tell you what the high bid is. You bidding higher for this item is making the selling price higher and it benefits the seller. now the seller is getting a higher price for that item. once you put in a bid thats higher than the bid the person place before you it will register.

Re: ebay question?
Oh OK. I think I got it now. Its just reflects the starting price but not the bids that have been placed.
Thanks.

Re: ebay question?
What might be happening is that ebay allows you to bid manually or you can enter your maximum bid amount and ebay will automatically continue to slowly add to your bid when necessary to keep you ahead until it reaches your max. So, probably the other bidder has a high max and ebay keeps upping the tally. You're better off setting the watch function and waiting til the auction is close to ending rather than getting in a bidding war early on and driving the price up.
