i am trying to sign up for pay-pal. (i'm new to this whole ebay thing!) i want to bid on an item that has a zero bid history. it's a $3.00 item. my question is this... is says to enter the most you are willing to spend...so if in seven hours when the auction is over and noone else had bid on it, do i get it for the price i wrote (i'll pay more than $3.00 for it) or the price that it originally listed for??

if no one else bids, you'll get it for the $3.00, but if other people bid it up, but not to your max then you'll still get it but for more. for instance if you put $10 as your max and someone else bids, but decides at $9.50 that they're done then you'll get it for $9.50. at least that's how i understand it!

if you bid...say $5 on a $3 item and you are the only bidder...you will only pay $3.
The reason you put in a higher bid is so that you do not have to 'watch' the auction all the time.

Bid in the last few minutes of the auction or before you leave. Not only do you see if it's still the price you want to pay closer to the auctions ending, but you won't keep possibly raising the price by bidding now.

oh crap. i am sooo defunct at doing this and my stupid FH's best friend won't help me. anyway. i just bid 10.00 on a 3.95 item and saw that someone had bid 8.00 on it. it's over in 7 hours. help! am i on the right track? how do i pay for it then? i seem to be having trouble with paypal.
