Dont withdrwa money from your investments to pay for wedding. Try figuring out houw much you will have by then, do some eliminating.

Remember you can use some of the $$ from the gifts you recieve to pay some balances.

can you put the $7000 on a 0 interest credit card? That way you can pay it off after the wedding with some of the gifts you receive and not touch your investment.

Can you take any loans out maybe?

I dont know about using the credit card idea, unless you are going to be able to pay off that $7000 right away, or with a year.

How about getting a part time job for now to help save money...or try selling this on ebay...Clean your house and instead of throwing things out, place them on Ebay. It is an excellent way to make some extra money.

I sell stuff all the time. This is how I got all my money to buy gifts for the holidays. Im not touching any of my savings.

Danielle and I need to save $12,000 by August. I am confident that we will be able to do it. I will admit I was freaking out a few months ago but now I think we can do it.

I am able to save $500 per month plus my ebay profits, and in late March I start car detailing again, so that is an extra $300 plus each weekend that will be going to the wedding.

Danielle just got her raise and that money is going to help us out alot too....

I dont' want to touch the mutual fund either.

I already have 3 credit cards. I might be able to ask for an increase in the limit to one of them to cover the rest of the wedding.

I don't know how much $ we'll be getting in gifts. I can't expect much from his guests coming from Ireland - after all they're paying for a flight and hotel to begin with.

Thanks....

If you can't save the money is their anything you can cut back on? Can you maybe change your honeymoon to a more economical spot? Hawaii is very expensive. that's why we didn't go there on our honeymoon- we picked Mexico for a week and did the whole thing for $2500.

If you put more $ on your credit cards you won't be happy after the wedding. I sold my Disney Stock to pay for our honeymoon... better than putting us in debt... I can always buy the stock back.

Unfortunately, FH doesn't want to back out of Hawaii. It's a 'once in a lifetime experience'.
Plus we have to stick to US areas since he's in the midst of applying for permanent residency to the USA.

I would definately not take any money out of your mutual funds or any of your retirement funds to pay for your wedding. I would sit down and realistically figure out how much money you can save in 5 months and then cut back on a few things to make it happen.

Going to Hawaii is an awesome honeymoon but if you can not afford it or if it is going to give you stress for the next 5 months wondering how to pay for it maybe you should look for a cheaper option. Go on a cruise and visit some tropical islands and it will cost 1/3 the price.

Good luck!!!!

I understand your pain- DH and I totally freaked b/f the wedding. If my grandmother didn't give me her wedding band I would've gotten married with a cracker jack box ring!

Look- unless Hawaii is going to fall off the planet, going there is not a 'once in a lifetime experience'.... you can always go for a 1st, 5th, anniversary... That's what we intend to do.
