they booked the arthur stuart band and i don`t know who they got. all i know is that the 'musical directors' name is jonathan peters. the mangaer asked if we took pictures of the band as if he doesn`t know who came to the house. what was resolved? nothing! he was a jerk and really didn`t seem to care about our satisfaction.

hi, My fiance and I also went to hank lane an Steven Scott orchestras and a few others. Do not book a band unless you can see them first! I booked a band from Faze 4. True Blue, there are awesome. They have their own studio in Great Neck where they have live performances. They are also completely no pressure and they are really nice people. Bob and Paul are the owners. I have heard from catering halls, and other non-music vendors that most of the best bands on Long Island never showcase. The reason? They don't need to! Why perform for free to get business if you are already booked solid? They are getting enough business on referrals alone. So, as uncomfortable as it may seem, you may not want to eliminate bands just because you can not see them live. Just make sure they come highly recommended by someone you trust!

Hank Lane has always been snobby! My mother went to book them years back for another event and I've heard from multiple sources that they use 'pick up bands' Although Hank Lane won't let you see their bands live you should at least be able to meet with a couple of band members. If the customer insists then they should make it so. If they are truthful this won't be an issue.

I checked my contract last night and it clearly states the bands name, number of members, and continuous music for 4 hours. I have also called and talked to Ian regarding the situation, and feel at ease again. I never got any 'snotty' attitudes, or coments from anyone there, and felt no pressure booking.Everyone there has been very nice,and helpful. Thanks Quinn for posting, and giving us all the heads-up,that's what makes this board so valuable! Continued success to all!

well, most of the bands that we have looked into for our wedding do in fact have showcases or will let you meet the band before you book. omnipop even gave me all the dates and places where their bands are playing so we could go view them. whether it is a a bar, showcase, or private studio i don`t see why you would not be given the opportunity to view the band before booking. my sister is from out of town and yes they did book solely on recommendations and the audio tape. they did see a picture of the band also before they booked. maybe, it was just a unfortunate situation, but i heard that it is not uncommon for hank lane to switch bands on you. even after the fact, they were not proactive in helping to reach a compromise. so, basically to sum it up, i would never recommend hank lane and yes i will discourage others from booking w/ them when i am asked my opinion. sorry to be so harsh and abrupt, but can you blame me?

I definately don't blame you at all! Its terrible what happened! I just want to make sure that people realize that there are other reputable and reliable bands that don't showcase -- so they don't panic! :-) Thanks for all of the helpful warnings!
