Hi!! I am from the TTC board and wanted to ask the mommies

HOw many of you were pregnant and took the HPT and it gave you a false negative? When did you take the test? On your first missed day, 2nd missed, 7th? Just curious. MY AFs are usually ontime like clockwork and I am 6 days late and I still get a negative on the HPT. (I used 2 different brands) I am getting a little anxious and impatient!! I want to call my doctor and schedule an appointment. I guess I will wait til after the weekend to call her.

ETA:I had a nightmare last night. I had a dream that I had a newborn baby boy. In my dream, I was looking everywhere for my baby, I looked in the bassinet and he was gone. Someone had kidnapped him!!! In my dream, I was an emotional wreck!!! It was one of those dreams that you wake up to that feels so real and you still feel emotionally wrecked. I woke up from this nightmare because I had to go the bathroom to find AF!!!! I feel a sense of loss!! My dream was so real!!

So now I am confused about ovulation since I am usually a 28 days and this month it was a 36 cycle. I will probably want to use an Ovulation kit. Which kits did you find helpful? Is there any real difference between them all? I've noticed the price of the kits vary. Does expensive always mean better? Thanks Gals

remember there is no such thing as a false negative.. only false positives...
After we were married I did not get AF for 4 months.. Stress also effects when it comes. I would go to the Dr anyway... just to make sure... When i found out i took a test and the lines were really faint... so i took 6 more and everyday they got stronger.. Good luck...

But, as I understand it and what I've read, women have a lot of false negatives on the HPtest meaning that they are actually pregnant when reading it is negative.

And as I understand it, there are no such thing as false positives. I've been told that if your test comes up positive you are most likely pregnant.

ETA: maybe I am calling it the wrong thing...but, i think they refer it to False Negatives when test come up negative and you are actually pg.

Also, a friend of mine mentioned she was 7 days late and her test said it was negative and she was PG.

A test should show up positive by now if you are pregnant-it is probably just stress/diet/etc...
I tested 4 days before my period was due and got a positive.

The funny thing is that I am not stressed. But, maybe my AF won't visit because she knows I want to be PG. LOL I'll keep you posted. I was just curious to see how many of you had negative test when you were actually pregnant.

I also read that there is usually
NOT FALSE POSITVES
BUT you can have FALSE NEGATIVES.

but unfortunately the tests are usually accurate,
even thougth we may not want them to be, especially if you tested more then once.

I just went thru a similar process
my AF was very late this month by 12 days,
never been this late in the last couple of years.
But tests were all negative
and I was thinking the same thing (always alittle bit of hope)
I was also very crampy for 2 weeks, never this pms-ee.

But sure enough I awoke to a not so welcomed April Fools Day!
and I dont think I have been more stressed this month until my actual period was late!!
then I just kept waiting for it, and waiting! and I thing this drove me more crazy then anything.

I am so sorry,
being late stinks!!!! bc you get real excited and then when AF comes you can really sad and then the whole process starts all over and then you are totally confused on your schedule bc of the lateness. I was over 10 days late this month.
But I am sticking with my usual 32 days

I cant help you with ovulation kits cause I am clueless and am thinking of getting one myself.
I have only used the pee ovulation predictor sticks.
I have a Dr appointment late April so I will wait to see what the Dr suggests.
