Re: is this cold feet? HELP!

i'm not sure if it's cold feet if you know he's the one you want to marry, it just might be that the timing isn't right for you guys and pushing the date back might not be the worst thing in the world if it would make you feel better

he IS the one, i know that for sure. maybe 'cold feet' is not the right term? it actually is about the timing that i'm concerned about.

hi, have you spoke to your partner about this? does he feel the same? i personally think it would be better if you could start married life living together, alone! have you thought about how you would feel after the wedding if your both living apart xx

I don't think its cold feet; you are just worried about your future, which is perfectly reasonable.

In terms of his family not showing excitement for the engagement, unfortunately, sometimes that happens. Did you guys have an engagement party? It may be too late, but that could be a good way to officially announce the upcoming wedding and get them a little bit more involved/happy about the wedding.

As to living arrangements, I agree that it would be best to have your own place (with you and FH)when you are married. It may be a little weird to still have his dad living with you guys though.

I think you and FH need to sit down and have a serious talk about your future and what you guys want to do after the wedding. Maybe you guys can get a small apt so you can still help you mom out and save for a house? At least then it won't be too much of a strain on the marriage. And if you don't work those issues out, it wouldn't matter if you got married next August or in 2015. If after you talk you guys decide that you want to save more, then maybe you should move the wedding back.

HTHs and good luck

PS - having gone through some of the same family issues - minus the dad living w/ DH - let me just tell you - there will ALWAYS be family issues. If you're sure he's the one in your heart - dont put things off b/c of family - there was a point in our engagement where DH's parents said they werent coming, coming, werent coming & then finally decided to come - it was very stressful for us but we had decided as a couple from the get-go that this was our day - and those that DID want to celebrate & be happy for us would be there...end of story.

As hard as it is - & believe me I KNOW - try to take the FH's side of the family showing a lack of enthusiasm w/ a grain of salt - you'll enjoy your planning process all the more!
