Edited for new name: Hurricanes, Tropical storms, tornados....OOH MY!

Is coming at me. Do you think I am tempting the fates by flying out on Friday the 13th that has a hurricane? It has been years and years and years since I have been near a major storm. Kind of scarey and kind of fun.

ETA Right now we are feeling the effects of Bonnie, Tomorrow it will be Charley with some Tornado warnings mixed in.

Do you live in FL? My parents live there and I'm worried about them. They never take the hurricane warnings seriously.

Re: Hurricane Charley

my FMIL is in ft. lauderdale and she's flyng in on friday. Hoepfully it wont be that bad, and if it is, they won't send the plane up. I think you safety is assured. There were t storms when I was in florida in june and they delated take off for 2 hours. They waited for the storm to completely blow over. It was annoying, but it shows that they won't send them plane up if it isn't safe!

They are in the Clearwater area. Yesterday my mom said the grocery stores were already really low on bottled water and such...

Be careful and have a safe flight!

Same here. My mom was laughing about it last night, but I think it's partially bc she didn't want me to worry in Italy.

Re: Hurricane Charley

Twobugs, I just heard that theTampa area has been called to evacuate...about 350,000 people. Not sure if this effects your parents in clearwater or not but I wanted to give you the latest update.

Re: Hurricane Charley

My mother is in Palm Harbor which is very close to Clearwater. She said certain areas right by the shore line as well as people living in mobile style homes are under mandatory evacuation orders by 6:00.

Apparently it's the worse storm system in the area in 20 years.

Stay safe everyone in or near this storm

Re: Hurricane Charley

I just learned that it does effect some areas of clearwater as well as tampa and st. pete. I think they are mostly looking at people close to the water.

My parents are in Palm Harbor too. I am calling my mom right now to see what's going on, but knowing her she'll be like 'oh, I'm out shopping for shoes - is there a hurricane coming?'

My dad's in Treasure Island and he told me he's not going anywhere. He obviously knows more than the weather service...

I hope all of our LIW family and friends will be safe

Ladies, I hope your loved ones are all safe and sound. I finally got to work today and I am so happy that work has power! I might be working late just to stay in the cool air since my home is still without power. We have have damage to our roof and our screened in patio and possibly some structure damage but we won't know for sure until the inspector gets out here. for all your loved ones affected.

Will do! I don't think that we will get anyone to our house for another two (ish) weeks..roofers and inspectors are working their tails off!
