So FH and I picked the church we wanted and have had nothing but a tough time from day one. The church is VERY STRICT. Because we are not active members of their church, they basically said they wont marry us. After some convincing, begging rather lol- they decided to conduct a pre-nuptial interview with us tonight. They said they are going to put us in seperate rooms and ask us a series of questions!! Well FH and I are SOOO nervous!! We are not religous and are so afraid to say the wrong thing.
Has anyone had to do this interview?? If so, What do they ask? Help!

Is this a catholic church? FH and I went through this and it was nothing serious at all. THey asked questions that you should know the answer to if you are getting married anyway, like do you both want kids and stuff.

they did that to us too... the church is on the strict side... but the Deacon that we spoke with was awesome and made us feel very comfortable...

They priest i spoke to was not so awesome.. VERY VERY strict, i couldnt believe it actually! I think they are looking for any reason not to marry us and I am in love with this church!!!

they didnt ask us if we have premarital sex...
but they most likely will ask if you live together... and if the church is strict you say NO... make sure you put a different address on the forms when you fill them out...

We had the interviews.. they were a pretty standard set of questions like... Were you ever married before? Do you want kids (yes, the answer is always yes even if you don't haha)
And the answers just need to match up.. I'm sure it won't be anything too crazy.. they aren't out to trick you they just want to make sure that there aren't any secrets between the couples or potential issues that can lead to divorce, i.e. the kids thing

Our catholic church did this as well.....there are some questions they have to ask to put on record, and you have to be alone for them to ask them. They were silly outrageous questions like 'do you confirm that the person you're marrying is not a cousin' b/c the church allows marriage of cousins but not 1st or 2nd cousins I think (good to know, right?! ;)). Another was asking if you'd been married before. Another was if you were baptized, etc. We didn't have any real 'us' questions until the FOCCUS test.

Oh and another was asking that you aren't being forced into the marriage. So the ones like that are why they separate you.

He's not gonna ask you anything crazy.
He basically asked us if we're getting married b/c we want to and not b/c someone is forcing us or b/c i'm pregnant. he asked us if we were related or members of the clergy.
He just wants to make sure the both of you are getting married of your own free will. Don't worry about it

I went to a catholic church cause FH is catholic but Im lutheran The church he made his conformation and baptism in we didnt want to get married there so we went to a different church and they said we needed to get a letter from his church saying it was ok to get married there. But we went the other day and they took fh in first but there was no trick question just basic stuff like have you ever been married and stuff like that. Do you want kids? I was so nervous that they were trying to trick us but they didnt LOL

It's pretty normal questions. Like if you had any sound knowledge of being related ( ) or if you had any sound knowledge of 'not being able to perform the marriage act.' ( ) They also asked if either one of us had ever had to have professional counseling, etc. It's mostly to make sure that you have told your partner everything and that you are on the same page. HTH.

the questions ere pretty standard, just like everyone else says. FH was nervous too b/c he didn't know what they would ask him, but its more a formality than anything else. don't worry about it! which church is it?

My church does the interviews too and I have been a memeber of the church since I was baptized. They have to conduct like an investigation on you and FH to approve the marriage can be conducted in the church... They will ask you things like:
have you been married before have you ever had therapy of any type do you know what marriage entails they may ask questions and ask if your FH knows all of it...
These are some of the questions that I was asked... no worries, you'll be fine

If its just the interview questions those were not bad it just asked if you were married before that you were marrying the person under your own free will, stuff like that. If its the focus test Im not sure whats on it but my friend said it wasnt that bad
