Election 2008 + My Wedding (2 Weeks before!)

Ladies,

I have posted here before about the fact that my wedding will be on the day of the World Series.

WELL... Silly ol' me, I just realized that our wedding is also less than 2 weeks before the 2008 election!

How could we incorporate this into our wedding?

I was thinking that somehow we could do in a welcome packet something about us being the 'Candidates' and have our 'Issues' and quotes and stuff.

Do you have any other ideas on how to incorporate an election in a funny way? We come from a fairly political background....

Wow you'll have a lot of themes going! Just make sure you do absentee ballots if you'll be on your HM on election day!

I think we'll drop the World Series in light of the election b/c we went to college in DC and many people who will be coming are very politically involved.

We're just trying to imagine ways to do this. Thanks for the help!

Love the acceptance speech ideas!

Wow -- you must really be into politics to incorporate it into your wedding. My wedding is the Saturday before I don't want to hear any political talk -- just not my thing!

Haha, yes

FH is in the military and I studied politics in college and write for a DC news agency.

It's perfect for us, I just want to make it cute in light of the wedding :)

you could walk in to the president's music

ETA: you could name the tables after past presidents or instead of 'table 1' they can be 'district 1'

make the place cards resemble voter cards

you could have posters made up with your names and 'slogans' for the bridal party to walk out with and then you can walk under them...

'Wedded Bliss
for the new
Mr. & Mrs!'

'It was faith
they wed
in 08'

'now and forever
they will be
together'

My FIL had campaign buttons made for the bachelor party with a photo of the two of us that said 'Pitta Adelson O8' around the outside of the photo set in red, white and blue.

I would say that quite a few attendees wore them the day of the wedding as well...

you can have them vote for who will be the better spouse...send the ballots in with the invitations and have the winner announced the night of the wedding...LOL

oooh and then you can have newspapers given out that night saying 'the new wedding candidates have won each others love'

I would name the tables after politcal candidates or causes. I think it would be cute but not too much...
