Elena question
Okay ladies, Upon some of these postings, I made an appointment for my consultation to see Elena this September. Just wondering, for those of you who've went to her, how you felt about her services. I have long brown curly hair - lots of it! And I don't wear heavy make-up either. I don't have a head piece and don't know how I want to wear my hair. She sounds really nice - but I just wanted some of your opinions. Thanks!

Elena question
I haven`t used her, but do you have her contact info? How far in advance should you book a hair/makeup person?

Elena question
I contacted her via e-mail for info, but she never contacted me! I was very interested in her services, but now I'm not sure how reliable she is. Continued success!

Elena answer - a bit long
I used her last Sept. She tried several different hairstyles at the first session. I took polaroids of the session and decided I didn't like my hair, and went back the week before my wedding. She was very accomodating and we spent another two hours till we got it right. I really liked the way she did my make up. I don't usually wear make-up, and she did me very natural, I didn't feel like I had a lot of makeup on or that I didn't look like me. My advice, whether you use her or someone else, is that you have her do only you. If you have other people, your makeup will be the last she'll do and you'll end up either feeling rushed or being late. She did my mom too and we ended up falling behind schedule. Thankfully, we had padded our schedule and no harm was done, althoug my husband thought I bailed out (haha). My other piece of advice is speak up if you don't like something. God knows you're paying for services, so if there is even one little itty bitty thing you don't like, tell her. She put stuff on my eyebrows to keep them in place and I told her to take it off. It made me uncomfortable. Plus my eyebrows could survive a huricane without aid! I found her very helpful and dependable. I think she comes off as a bit flighty (she kept on calling me Stacey at our first meeting, my name is Karen. She eventually got it right), but she's very good at what she does. If you have any other questions about her, ask away. Good luck

Cira -
I used her for my recent June wedding. Just make sure you tell her want you want. When I went for my trial I kind of let her do what she wanted (but you know best) I was happy with the results of my trial (but on my wedding day) I couldn't of been happier - I told her what I wanted and told her what to use) Since you don't want to wear a lot of make-up then tell her (SHE LISTENS) I couldn't say enough good things about her. I had all these people with me that morning (mom, sister, friends, and she was truly the only one who could really help all of your needs) I had all those little buttons on the back of my dress (everyone elses hands were shaking) she helped me get dressed - If you use her on the day you will see (she is worth the money) I have very thick and very long hair too - I keep saying I am going to post pictures (it came out perfect- I had it all put up in beautiful curls with a few flowers) it was a hair - do for the hair do hall of fame - anyway good luck (just please remember don't go into the trial and say I don't know just do what you want - she doesn't know your likes and dislikes only you do. In fact bring a picture of yourself - one more thing I do wear a lot of make-up and I told her I want a lot (my pictures do not look like I have a lot of make-up on at all- you really need a lot for that day. just my opinion...

Elena question
Is this the Elena that Pauline recommends for people to use when she's booked up??? If so, I have heard great things about her. Although, I have booked Pauline. I booked her in June for my wedding in August 2002. I heard she books up very quickly, so I didn't hesitate.

I called her last month to discuss my 11/2002 wedding. She was great. She asked me to call her back in Sept. to arrange for a trial. I think she is well worth the money. Now I do not have to go to the Salon, waste time driving to and from, plus on a Saturday the place will be packed. I would rather be in my home with my friends and family getting ready.

Elena question - Thanks!
Elena, Thanks for the input girls - now I'm excited. I figured that it would be best to hire someone to do only me, like Karen (KGB) said. It just takes the worry off of timing. Kim, her number is 516-484-8473. I'm not sure how far in advance you need to book her, but I don't want to worry about it a few months before - I rather get who I want, book it now, and not worry about it until that day!. Lots of luck everyone! Cira

I booked her for my Oct wedding!
I went to the trial -- and she got it right the first time!! I never let anyone do my make-up because I like the way I do it -- and she did it great !! Just the way I would but better ! She made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. I also only recommend having her do only you ! Get pampered-- and have her all to yourself!

Question
So if you hire her for yourself, are you going to hire someone else for your bridesmaids? Or make them go out to get it done?

Elena question
She is WONDERFUL! My sister in law and 2 friends booked her for their weddings after my 7/15 wedding. She is reliable, a pleasure to be with, VERY accomodating! I can't say enough! I was so happy I booked her.. and for all she does she is actually very reasonable. I HIGHLY recommend her!

Actually, I was going to ask them what they wanted to do. I have a feeling that my girls are not going to want updo's - I was the one who had one bridesmaid complain about spending $196 for a dress, I don't think she'll pay $75 for an updo. I will work that out with them! Plus, I think I'd rather they wore their hair down, since I'm thinking about putting just the sides up for me. I still have some time to think about those details. My mom is probably going to get her hair blown out the night before - since she has really curly thick hair. It will be better if she had it cut and blown out the night before. But I'm just going for a trial and will figure out the details later on. :-)
