For girls who got their custom wedding bands at Elsa's, if you don't mind me asking, what is the price range you spent?
They wrote one price range on my contract and now are asking for more money.
What's their story?

Re: Elsa's Pricing
Really?
Why are they asking for more? Did you change something about the ring?
I went there and the range was between $3500 and $3700 for mine and FH, both platinum with diamonds in mine only...

I responded on the NWR board, but figured it might be helpful for brides who don't travel over there
I had a range in my contract as well and I think it depends on the quality of diamonds they end up using and the carat weight (if you have diamonds). Otherwise, it might depend on how much time they spent making it. The range on mine was only a $200 difference though. I'm picking it up soon though, so I'll let you know the final price they charge if you like.

Re: Elsa's Pricing
We got my diamond band custom made and my DH got a diamond band and a plain gold band for work. I don't remember it being more than what was on our contract but I could be wrong. But if it was off at all I'm sure it was just a little but as someone else said it could have to do with the quality of the diamonds used.
You could always ask them!

Our wedding rings were exactly within the quoted price.

Re: Elsa's Pricing
I went there a few weeks ago. For the same ring I could get from another jeweler (yes, both needed custom work) she wanted to charge me $300 more and give me almost half the carat weight. I really do know exactly what I want and know that I just need a basic channel set white gold eternity band to have some custom work on it so I didn't think all of the extra steps were necessary in my case.
So we walked out after our appointment knowing we woldn't go with them. Last night my cell phone rang, the person didn't leave a message but when I called the number back it was Elsa's... hmmmm.
Our first jeweler fell through so we are off to the diamond district.

My E-ring is from Elsa's. I LOVE MY RING! I really like Elsa and Stephan, but some of the other staff members leave a lot to be desired in terms of 'friendliness'.

We signed a contract and paid $200...now I am freaking out!
Has anyone broken a contract with them? What happened?

Re: Elsa's Pricing
My e-ring is from there and so are our wedding bands. We are both 100% confident we are not getting ripped off. When FH went there to look at e-rings he wanted to order one to be custom made and she said no, not until he shops around and comes back confident to her, knowing she is doing the right thing. And he did.

Re: Elsa's Pricing
I should have mine and FH's rings at the end of April. My ring (before tax) fell $200 over the contract. So I said something along the lines that I wasn't happy, so they reduced it to an additional $100 from the contract. I was ok with that I guess.

Re: Elsa's Pricing
Im nervous too. I already paid 400. I felt I needed to go to them because I needed a custom made ring to match. All my girlfriends all paid around a thousand for a platinum and diamond ring. Personally, I can't afford a two thousand wedding band.

Re: Elsa's Pricing
Well, I happen to think their process is amazing and really gives the buyer control over what they are getting.
They are a tad overpriced but some of that comes from all the time they spend walking you through the process. So far from what I've seen of the mold and the diamonds they picked for my wedding band, I'd say it was worth the extra $100.

Re: Elsa's Pricing
Our contract read a certain price and our final cost came in at $100 less than the quote. But then they had to add tax. So the tax made it more than the quote. I felt that was reasonable.

I hope no one minds me saying this... everyone has an opinion.
We all live in NY. 90% of ALL diamonds sold in the U.S. go through the diamond district.
There is absolutely no reason for any of us to pay retail - IMO.

I agree 100%. It's just a train ride and a much better selection. We are going in next week after I've had it with trying to deal with three different LI jewelers who only go through the diamond district anyway.
I'm going straight to the source which is what I should have done months ago.
I'm not surprized about many of these posts. I'm glad I walked out. It's interesting as to how many posts were charged over the quote, how Elsa's called me on my cell phone last night.
Oh, I also remember a post a few months back raving about Elsa's and I it was detected as a
