Does anyone else have an emerald cut engagment ring? I have one and I LOVE IT. But i was wondering if anyone else notices taht it gets noticebly dirty, quickly. Many jewlers have told me that this is typical with this shape stone being that this shape are usually very good (clear) diamonds so you can tell much more easily, but I was wondering how often is safe to clean it, and what you use to clean in. is there something you can do to keep it clean longer?

I dont have an emerald cut ring but I use toothpaste and a soft bristled toothbrush to clean it - alot of the girls on here use windex too

I have an emerald cut ring I use one of those cleaning kits you can get at any jeweler in the mall. It comes with a little brush. It's really easy and it makes it really shiny!

When we had my ring appraised the women told us to use regular dish soap like dawn and a soft bristle tooth brush
It does get dirty cause it has the high sides If i remember i clean it about once a week.....

I have an emerald too and I do this at times! I can see it's dirty, but not THAT dirty. MY mom has some jewelry cleaning solution that I use. It comes with a little brush. I dip it in the solution and brush it underneath to get the crap out!

yessssssssss! I do too! That is SO true. It's filthy constantly.
It's safe to clean it frequently. Just get the prongs checked every few months...
I have an emerald cut e-ring as well, and yes, it gets FILTHY. I try to clean my ring once a week with Connoisseurs jewelry cleaner, and once every 6 months I'll take it to the jeweler and they'll put it in the ultrasonic machine. A saleswoman at Fortunoff's suggested that you run your ring under super hot water then blow dry it for a few seconds. This method works great as well!

I have a square radiant and i clean my ring 1-2 times a week, b/c it can get really dirty underneath. I use dish soap and a tootbrush, what a shine!!! i always get so many compliments on how clean and new my ring is.
I know it is crazy but you can also use a cappucino machine to clean ring, use the steam it is the same when you go to jewelers!!!

I don't have an emerald cut, (mine is round brilliant) but my jeweler said that the way that diamonds get dirty is from the oil that gets on them (i.e. from people touching them) and then the dust and whatnot settles on it.
I'm another patron to the toothbrush warm soapy water. Plus, whenever I pass by the jewelers I stop in and have him do a good steam cleaning for me.

hhaha..i have a square emerald cut and always wipe the top of it on my shirt cause you can see water spots and stuff like that on it...it's because there aren't alot of facets in the cut that you notice the dirt more. I clean mine at least once a week in that cleaner in a jar...and once a month or so in an ultrasonic cleaner (which does an awesome job) i got at Sharper Image
